The 51st edition of the Berlin Marathon takes place on Sunday (21 September 2025), with fast times expected on one of the quickest courses in the world.
After his victory in London in April, Sabastian Sawe is the favourite for the men’s race. The 30-year-old could go close to the course record of 2:01:09, set by Eliud Kipchoge when he broke the world record here in 2022.
Fellow Kenyan Rosemary Wanjiru is among the contenders in the women’s race as she bids to end a run of five consecutive wins by Ethiopian athletes. Degitu Azimeraw, Dera Dida, Mestawut Fikir and Tigist Girma will aim to keep the title in Ethiopian hands.
The elite runners get underway at 9:15 am local time (CEST). Follow for live updates.
