Introducing Pakistan’s most iconic lifestyle project:

Riviera Group has unveiled its promising model apartment of Sky Garden, offering visitors an exclusive preview of one of Pakistan’s most ambitious lifestyle projects.

Envisioned as an integrated community, Sky Garden brings together three distinct components within one master-planned development: Sky Residence, Sky Exchange, and Sky Village.

Sky Residence sets a new benchmark for residential living in Karachi, offering some of the most spacious luxury residences in the country, consisting of two towers. Nexus Tower features 3- and 4-bedroom apartments, with two units per floor ranging from 3,900–4,130 sq. ft.—the largest three-bedroom layouts in all of Pakistan.

Each residence is designed with private lobby access, dedicated elevators, separate maids’ and drivers’ rooms, and reserved parking. PentoTower presents expansive full-floor 4- and 5-bedroom residences spanning up to 8,840 sq. ft., with similar premium features including private lobby access, dedicated parking, and separate quarters for maids and drivers.

Select duplex layouts incorporate in-unit lifts, while higher floors offer ultra-luxury residences extending up to 42,000 sq. ft. With over four elevators, private lobbies, and 50 reserved visitor parking spots, Sky Residence redefines luxury living in Pakistan.

Residents enjoy access to the Sky Spa, a private wellness facility featuring an outdoor pool, terrace, and fitness facilities. Dedicated women-only amenities include a covered pool, jacuzzi, spa, and gym—designed to elevate privacy, comfort, and well-being.

Spanning 16 floors, the Sky Exchange tower is designed to cater to corporate and professional needs. It offers full-floor and half-floor offices, a private rooftop, and a dedicated entrance with basement parking, creating a professional hub within the community.

Sky Village introduces a vibrant, lifestyle-focused retail and dining experience at the heart of Sky Garden. Designed as a secure, gated retail boulevard, it features boutique outlets, concept stores, and lifestyle brands alongside curated gourmet destinations.

The lane has been planned as a walkable high street with its own dedicated drop-off and guest parking, providing both convenience and exclusivity. At its core is Karachi’s first-of-its-kind alfresco dining promenade, offering open-air cafés, fine dining restaurants, and high-end eateries that encourage community interaction.

By combining retail with dining, Sky Village is set to redefine urban leisure in Karachi, creating a sophisticated destination not just for residents, but for the city at large.

Torrential rains to lash Sindh, Punjab, flood threat looms

    ANI |
    Updated:
    Sep 05, 2025 15:04 IST

Karachi [Pakistan], September 5 (ANI): The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast torrential rains in several districts of Sindh and eastern Punjab between September 7 and 9, with chances of urban flooding in low-lying areas, Dawn reported.
According to the Met Office, a low-pressure system currently lies over the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh and is likely to shift towards the west and northwest. The system is expected to reach Rajasthan and adjoining areas of Sindh on September 6.
Due to this development, strong monsoon currents are expected to enter Sindh and eastern Punjab starting September 6, the weather department said.
“Under the influence of these meteorological conditions, widespread rain and windstorms/thundershowers, coupled with scattered heavy to very heavy falls, are expected to hit Tharparkar, Islamkot, Nagarparkar, Chachro, Dhali, Diplo, Kaloi, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas, Sanghar, Khairpur, Shaheed Benazirabad, Matiari, Tando Allayar, Tando Mohammad Khan, Hyderabad, Karachi, Thatta, Badin, Sajawal, Jamshoro, Dadu, Kashmore, Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad, Shikarpur and Ghotki from Sept 6 (evening/night) to Sept 9 with occasional gaps,” the PMD said, as quoted by Dawn.
The Met Office has further warned that torrential rains may trigger urban flooding in low-lying areas of Mirpurkhas, Shaheed Benazirabad, Tharparkar, Khairpur, Sukkur, Larkana, Thatta, Badin, Sajawal, Hyderabad and Karachi from September 7 to 9.
Heavy rains during the monsoon season have repeatedly brought life to a standstill in Karachi and other parts of Sindh in recent years, disrupting transport and causing significant damage to infrastructure. Authorities have been advised to remain on alert in view of the upcoming weather conditions, Dawn reported.

Meanwhile, international agencies have stepped up support to Pakistan ahead of the predicted floods. The United Kingdom and the United Nations have announced additional humanitarian assistance as severe flooding devastates the northern region and Punjab, with Sindh facing impending threats, Dawn reported.
On Thursday, the UK announced an additional £1.2 million to support the government’s coordinated response and help communities in Sindh prepare for floods. According to a press release from the British High Commission, this brings the UK’s total humanitarian assistance to £2.53 million, providing life-saving support to more than 400,000 people.
The funds will be channelled through non-governmental organisations in Sindh to strengthen early warning systems, enable community evacuations, pre-position essential supplies, and protect livestock. “Sindh is in a critical window to prepare and reduce the impact of the upcoming floods,” British High Commissioner Jane Marriott said. “For every dollar spent on prevention, up to seven dollars are saved in response. More importantly, lives are saved, and destruction is avoided,” Dawn reported.
The new aid package follows GBP 1.33 million announced on August 22 for early response and relief operations in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab and Gilgit-Baltistan. That support includes food rations, search and rescue operations, mobile medical camps and the restoration of irrigation channels. The UK has also contributed GBP 500,000 to the Start Ready Disaster Risk Financing system in Pakistan, assisting 20,000 people across Punjab, Sindh and KP.
The UN is working closely with Pakistani authorities to assess the humanitarian impact of the floods. Emergency Relief Coordinator Tom Fletcher released USD 600,000 from the Regional Humanitarian Pooled Fund to support relief and recovery operations, the UN Information Centre in Islamabad said. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expressed solidarity with Pakistan and commended the authorities for relocating more than one million people in Punjab, according to a statement issued by spokesperson Stephane Dujarric, Dawn reported.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Federal Ministry of Health has issued advisories to curb the heightened risk of disease outbreaks following widespread water contamination. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) has warned of rising threats from cholera, typhoid, dengue fever, chikungunya and malaria. The ministry urged citizens to follow protocols outlined in advisories posted on its website and that of the NIH.
Separately, the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) said in its “Desert Locust Bulletin” that Pakistan faces no immediate locust threat. Surveys in August found no locusts in key summer breeding areas, though very small-scale breeding may still occur. “No significant developments are expected,” the report noted, as quoted by Dawn. UAE announce squad for Asia Cup 2025

The United Arab Emirates have announced their 17-member squad for the upcoming Asia Cup 2025, with star batter Muhammad Waseem named captain.

UAE are placed in Group A alongside India, Pakistan, and Oman, and will open their campaign against India in Dubai on September 10.

The squad is largely the same as the one currently featuring in the tri-series against Afghanistan and Pakistan, with only two new additions — pacer Matiullah Khan and left-arm spinner Simranjeet Singh.

Waseem, who has been a key figure for UAE in recent years, will once again be central to their batting strength. He previously impressed with his performances at the 2022 T20 World Cup qualifier, where his innings against Namibia played a major role in UAE’s historic win.

This will be UAE’s second appearance in the Asia Cup, having last competed in the 2016 edition in Bangladesh.

The 2025 tournament will feature eight teams divided into two groups of four. The top two from each group will progress to the Super Four stage, with the leading sides then contesting the Final.

The competition will also serve as vital preparation for Asia’s top teams ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, scheduled to take place in India and Sri Lanka.

UAE squad: Muhammad Waseem (captain), Alishan Sharafu, Aryansh Sharma, Asif Khan, Dhruv Parashar, Ethan D’Souza, Haider Ali, Harshit Kaushik, Junaid Siddique, Matiullah Khan, Muhammad Farooq, Muhammad Jawadullah, Muhammad Zohaib, Rahul Chopra, Rohid Khan, Simranjeet Singh, Saghir Khan.

  • Silksong channels Kim Kardashian and Rogue breaks cover

Silksong channels Kim Kardashian and Rogue breaks cover

Testing. Testing. One-two. Is this thing on—or is everyone still playing Silksong? Okay, I’m just going to imagine a few forlorn souls have tuned in and plow on because…

That’s right! I have returned from Gamescom and a fleeting vacation to once again captain the HMS Patch Notes (and do a bunch of other work, I promise).

Unlike most of the population, I never actually got around to playing the original Hollow Knight but made the effort and downloaded Silksong last night. Alas, that’s where the story ends because I recently another journalist I’d take finally take RimWorld for a spin. I think that one has been out for around seven years (are you sensing a pattern here?) and it is absolutely unhinged.

I stayed awake until an ungodly hour tending to my shonky sci-fi homestead. The story so far? We have electricity, two firearms, one knife, a talent for dismembering raiders, and home cooking for days.

You might think my settlement is thriving, but tragedy has a habit or ruining the best laid plans. I’m devastated to report that our beloved pet guinea pig was brutally attacked by a bloodthirsty squirrel. Our retaliation was as swift as it was deadly, but Nibbles remains in intensive care. Get well soon, king.

Alright, I’m going wildly off-piste. I know you’re all desperate to get back to Team Cherry’s latest and presumably greatest, so allow me to hasten your return to the promised land by offering provisions in the form of must-read headlines. Fill your boots with news and then make haste. You’ve got a video game to play.

via The Gamer // It took over one billion years but Hollow Knight: Silksong finally hit shelves this week and in doing so immediately pulled a Kim Kardashian. Yep, Team Cherry’s wildly-anticipated sequel broke the internet upon arrival by momentarily turning Steam into an inaccessible void. There were also reports of similar outages on the Nintendo eShop and PlayStation Store. The downtime was as fleeting as it was widespread, but perfectly encapsulates how Hollow Knight has outstripped its humble indie origins to become a true colossus.

via Hollywood Reporter // GUNS. EXPLOSIONS. SOAP. All of those things will likely be thrust onto the big screen when Paramount and Activision Blizzard’s newly-announced Call of Duty movie eventually lands in theaters. Video game movies are generating massive returns at the moment, so it’s hardly surprising to see Microsoft look to turn one of its most lucrative franchises into a live-action sensation. Will it actually accomplish that goal? Who knows. Paramount boss David Ellison said the company hopes to take a few cues from other storming blockbusters like Top Gun: Maverick. It’s a good start, but the proof will be in the pudding.

via Game Developer // A chorus of game developers have rallied together to launch a new charity bundle in a bid to raise $200,000 for Palestinians in need. Community-driven initiative SE Asian Games for Good spent 10 months curating the charity bundle, which includes 382 titles from almost 250 creators. It has raised over $32,000 at the time of writing, but there’s always room for more. All proceeds are being donated to UN-backed non-profit UNRWA USA. Take a look over on itch.io.

via Bloomberg (paywalled) // The ripple effects of Microsoft’s latest round of mass layoffs continue to cascade across the industry. This week, Bloomberg reported that Crystal Dynamics—which had been co-developing the now-canceled Perfect Dark reboot alongside Xbox first-party studio The Initiative—was forced to make layoffs after the project was canned by Microsoft. Word on the street is that developers at both Crystal Dynamics and The Initiative were given a chance to salvage the title by seeking a new funding partner. Yet, despite talks initially progressing with a range of suitors including Grand Theft Auto owner Take-Two Interactive, disagreements regarding who would take ownership of the franchise seemingly created an impasse. The end result? More people out of work.

Related:Wildgate and Sunderfolk developer-publisher Dreamhaven is making layoffs

via Game Developer // Video game journalists, much like developers, have been subject to a debilitating deluge of layoffs of late. Since the turn of the year, those under the umbrella of media conglomerates like Valnet and Ziff Davis have been kicked to the curb in the wake of major acquisitions. The solution for many has been to shun corporate ownership entirely and kickstart independent publications. Enter Rogue, a new worker-owned outlet established by seven former Polygon staffers. The website was formed in partnership with Rascal and will dish out news, guides, interviews, and more. Some articles (including most news and guides) will be free, while other content will be locked behind a subscription. The upshot of that reader-supported model, according to the founding team, is that advertisements and sponsored articles will be consigned to history. How does that sound?

via Game Developer // More layoffs, this time at Wildgate and Sunderfolk developer-publisher Dreamhaven. The company, which was established by former Blizzard president Mike Morhaime in 2020, has brought two internally-developed titles to market this year but has now chosen to downsize. Morhaime didn’t explain why the company is making layoffs but indicated the company is “facing similar challenges” to others across the industry. He also confirmed Dreamhaven’s publishing division will bear the brunt of the cuts.

via IGN // Hitman and 007 First Light maker IO Interactive (IOI) appears to be rethinking its publishing ambitions after the disastrous launch of MindsEye. In case you missed the hubbub, IOI Partners—the publishing division of IOI—was responsible for bringing Build A Rocket Boy’s critically panned open-world shooter, MindsEye, to market. To say the project received a mixed reception would be an understatement. MindsEye was littered with bugs and glitches at launch, resulting in players seeking refunds en masse, an onslaught of negative Steam reviews, and eventually layoffs at developer Build A Rocket Boy. During a recent interview with IGN, IOI CEO Hakan Abrak said the ordeal was so “tough” that the company is wondering whether third-party publishing is worth the effort. “IO Interactive will publish our own games internally,” said Abrak “IOI Partners? That remains to be seen.” If only it had been a hit, man.

via Gamesindustry.biz // Jagex CEO John Bellamy has claimed the company curbed support for Pride content this year to “protect the imminent future of the game.” The decision was reportedly criticized internally when it was communicated earlier this year. It also drew widespread condemnation from players. Yet, despite the backlash, Bellamy feels it’s his job to ensure Jagex titles operate “as apolitically as possible” for the good of players. “Ultimately our games offer escapism to many hundreds of thousands of players every day. If that escapism opportunity is compromised, there’s a very real risk to the business.” I’m sure his latest remarks will go down a treat.

Brazil’s Flavia Saraiva set for first competition since historic Paris 2024 campaign

Mélanie de Jesus dos Santos steps back into the gym

Two-time Olympian Mélanie de Jesus dos Santos is back in the gym.

    Well, at least kind of.

The 25-year-old, who has spent much of the last year in her home in Martinique recovering from disappointment at the Olympic Games Paris 2024, posted a video on Wednesday (3 August) on her Instagram story saying she wanted to test her gymnastics ability after having taken such a long time away from the sport.

“I want to see what I’m capable of after such a long time away from gymnastics,” said de Jesus dos Santos. “Just for the experience, to see if I lost my figure or not. I don’t think so, I never had this kind of issue, but this time, it’s a long period.”

The next slide of her Instagram story showed the four-time European Championships gold medallist performing a double back on the trampoline.

Whether or not this is the start of a return to competition remains to be seen, but in an exclusive interview with Olympics.com earlier this year, de Jesus dos Santos didn’t rule out the idea.

“I don’t think I’m ready yet to say I’m ending my career, but I’m not ready either to say officially that I’m coming back for this or that competition, this or that date,” she said. “I know I’m not going to end on what happened at the Games because I made way too many sacrifices to leave it like that. I’m not ending on what happened at the Games.

“If I come back to gymnastics,” she continued, “it will be to enjoy it and to prove to myself that I’m capable of doing beautiful things. But, I don’t have a specific competition goal. I know I want to come back – I miss gymnastics, yes. But will I return to high-level competition? I don’t know. But in any case, I’ll enjoy training at my club at home.”

  • Boyzone ‘will try’ to reunite in 2026, says Ronan Keating – The Irish Times

Boyzone ‘will try’ to reunite in 2026, says Ronan Keating – The Irish Times

Singer Ronan Keating has revealed Boyzone will “try” to reunite in 2026.

Keating (48) – who began his career in the boyband in 1993 alongside Keith Duffy, Mikey Graham, Shane Lynch and the late Stephen Gately – said the success of a Sky documentary miniseries about the band called Boyzone: No Matter What had prompted the surviving members to discuss reuniting.

Gately died of natural causes at the age of 33 on October 10th, 2009, at his holiday home in Majorca.

Speaking on the Scott Mills Breakfast Show on BBC Radio 2, Keating said: “The reaction was unbelievable, so we’ve obviously been talking about our story for the last 30 years, and we felt like that was kind of it, that maybe that was the end of the story.

“And well, we’ve all been chatting over the last few weeks, and I think 2026 might be a year for Boyzone to maybe try and do something.”

Following the interview, the band made a series of posts on their Instagram page with a picture of the band and the words “the journey continues”, the posts also urging fans to sign up to a mailing list.

The group first broke up in 2000, as their members went on to pursue solo careers, before reuniting in 2007. Boyzone performed their Thank You And Goodnight farewell tour between 2018 and 2019 and have not returned to the stage since.

Asked by Mills how his bandmates were getting on, Keating said: “They’re really great … After the documentary, the reaction was crazy, it was unbelievable, honestly, even people that weren’t fans of Boyzone were contacting me saying: ‘I had no idea’.”

Speaking about the documentary, he continued: “British Airways had it on the plane (to England) in the documentary section, and somebody was watching it next to me, and it was really awkward, I had to put a blanket over my head.”

He said there may be another surprise when he takes to the stage at Radio 2 In The Park on Saturday in Essex, England.

Keating said: “I’ve got a lot of surprises at the moment, and I don’t know which one to take out of my pocket, because there’s a few things brewing right now.

“There’ll hopefully be one tomorrow on stage, and then there’s going to be maybe one in the next few minutes, I might have one for you, Scott (the potential reunion).”

Boyzone have had six UK number one singles and five UK number one albums, and are known for songs such as Love Me For A Reason, Words and No Matter What. – PA
