Olympians Lovlina Borgohain and Magomed Schachidov make an early exit

On a day of surprise defeats, Tokyo 2020 bronze medallist Lovlina Borgohain endured a disappointing return to the ring with a second-round exit at the World Boxing Championships 2025 in Liverpool, England, on Saturday (September 6).

Competing in the women’s 75kg division, Borgohain, in her first international outing since Paris 2024, went down 5-0 by unanimous decision to Türkiye’s Busra Isildar after receiving a first-round bye.

Germany’s Paris 2024 Olympian Magomed Schachidov also made an early exit, losing 5-0 to Spain’s Frank Martinez in the men’s 70kg division. But there was better news for local favourite Odel Kamara, who defeated Kosovo’s Shpetim Bajoku 5-0 in the same weight category to advance to the next round.

Orlando Bloom finally breaks silence on Katy Perry split

Orlando Bloom has publicly addressed his breakup with Katy Perry for the first time, speaking warmly about his former fiancée and their shared commitment to co-parenting their daughter Daisy. The actor appeared on Today , where host Craig Melvin asked about the personal changes in his life. Bloom, now 48, responded with gratitude, making it clear that despite the separation, he and Perry remain on good terms.

“I’m great, man. I’m so grateful,” Bloom said, before adding, “We have the most beautiful daughter. And we’re great. We’re going to be great. Nothing but love.” The remark was his first direct acknowledgment of the split, which was confirmed in July after six years together and a lengthy engagement.

The pair welcomed Daisy in August 2020, and since then have often spoken about the joy of parenthood. Sources close to the singer previously said Perry intended to maintain a respectful relationship with Bloom, emphasising that Daisy’s wellbeing would always come first. Bloom echoed that sentiment in his latest comments, reassuring fans that the former couple is committed to raising their daughter in a positive and supportive environment.

The Pirates of the Caribbean star has shared cryptic posts on social media since the breakup, including quotes from Carl Jung reflecting on loneliness and balance. His latest interview, however, marks a more direct and optimistic outlook, suggesting he is focused on the future rather than dwelling on the past.

The split between Perry, 40, and Bloom sparked intense media attention, especially as the two had long been seen as one of Hollywood’s most glamorous couples. They attended major red-carpet events together, from the Toronto International Film Festival to the Vanity Fair Oscars party, and frequently spoke of their blended family, which includes Bloom’s son Flynn from his marriage to Miranda Kerr.

While their romantic relationship has ended, Bloom’s comments confirm there is no animosity. Instead, the actor highlighted gratitude, love, and shared purpose, with their daughter remaining at the heart of their connection.

TESSAN Debuts “Berlin Castle Night” to Unveil New Brand Experience at IFA 2025

BERLIN, Sept. 6, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — On the opening day of IFA 2025, TESSAN, a global leader in charging solutions, hosted an exclusive gala dinner, “The Berlin Castle Night.” More than a showcase, the evening represented a profound expression of TESSAN’s core brand philosophy, “The Journey Begins at Home,” by shifting the focus from technical specifications to the human stories, emotions, and meaningful connections that its technology enables.

“The Berlin Castle Night” was a special high-end brand event for TESSAN in Europe. Leveraging the global stage of IFA, one of the world’s most influential consumer electronics exhibitions, the dinner brought together media, partners, and key opinion leaders for an intimate night of connection. Berlin, a city where innovation and culture naturally intersect, served as the perfect backdrop to symbolize TESSAN’s next chapter as it accelerates its global journey.

“”For years, we have mastered the technology of power. But our true mission has always been about connecting people’s journeys,” said Alex Yu, CEO of TESSAN, in his keynote address. “Every product we create is designed to be a reliable starting point, a source of power and peace of mind, whether your journey is a daily commute or a transcontinental adventure. Our purpose is to ensure that the connections you make along the way are never interrupted.”

The evening itself was a living illustration of this philosophy. Guests moved seamlessly from fine cuisine to heartfelt storytelling and hands-on product experiences. The night was designed not only to introduce innovations, but to create space for authentic conversations and human connection—mirroring the very essence of TESSAN’s “Connector” identity.

Investing in Human Stories: The “100 Travelers” Initiative

A centerpiece of this new vision was the official launch of the “100 Travelers” initiative. This global storytelling campaign, supported by a $500,000 travel fund, is TESSAN’s pledge to amplify real human journeys. By empowering 100 travelers worldwide to share their unique stories, TESSAN aims to create a living mosaic of experiences. The first selected traveler, Maddy, was introduced during the event as a special guest, sharing her personal journey and setting the tone for the global search that follows.

    The Technology of Empowerment

To demonstrate how this people-first philosophy translates into design, TESSAN unveiled a new ecosystem of charging solutions—engineered not just to power devices, but to support lives and journeys with reliability and simplicity.

    • The flagship TESSAN Voyager 205, the world’s most powerful universal travel adapter, was presented. Delivering an unprecedented 205W output, it enables travelers to power an entire suite of devices from one compact source across more than 200 countries.
    • A new line of smart power banks, including the TS-PB02 MagCharge and TS-PB01 3-in-1, showcased thoughtful, user-centric designs that remove the small frictions of everyday charging.
    • Innovative desktop charging stations highlighted TESSAN’s vision for modern living: organized, efficient, and aesthetically pleasing solutions that elevate both home and office environments.

By placing purpose and storytelling at the heart of its IFA debut, TESSAN signaled a strategic evolution. “The Berlin Castle Night” was not just a brand event—it was the opening chapter in a new narrative where TESSAN is committed to powering not only devices, but also the journeys, connections, and experiences of its users around the world.

TESSAN welcomes all IFA attendees to visit Hall 2.2, Booth 186 to experience this vision firsthand.

The transformation of influencer into chanteuse…

French singer-songwriter and web video artist Laure Gonnet was born in 1998 in Lyon. Her stage name Styleto comes from her ‘Style tonic’ YouTube channel which she created in 2013 to reveal quirky and sincere updates on her life as a teenager. She posted from her bedroom in between jazz dance classes and school studies, with her natural charm and acute sense of self-irony proving popular with fans.

Her musical path began in 2021, when she posted a cover of Dalida’s iconic 1983 song Mourir sur scène, which was an internet hit in France, which she then followed with a cover version of Gaffe aux autres by her favourite singer, Ben Mazué (see below). With three million views, it kickstarted her bona fide music career and led to her being invited on stage by Mazué.

In 2022 she released her debut album, Carrousel, which included a duet with Louane on Capitaine, before starting to compose her own songs, with one French reviewer noting that “her superpower is to sublimate everyday life and the universal emotions that run through us”. In March this year, she released a new album, Fille lacrymale, and is on tour throughout 2025.

  • New Blood Test Algorithm Shows Sensitivity, Specificity in CRC Screening

New Blood Test Algorithm Shows Sensitivity, Specificity in CRC Screening

In June 2025, the NCCN updated its CRC screening guidelines to include Shield blood-based screening as a recommended option for testing once every 3 years among individuals who are at risk of having the disease.

The latest screening algorithm for the Shield™ blood test (Shield V2) demonstrated positive sensitivity and specificity outcomes in the detection of colorectal cancer (CRC), according to a press release from the developer, Guardant Health, Inc.1

Shield V2 reached all primary end points as part of a study assessing an expanded cohort of individuals who enrolled on the ECLIPSE study (NCT04136002), which was published in the New England Journal of Medicine.2 The updated test demonstrated a sensitivity and specificity rate of 84% and 90%, respectively, in the detection of CRC. Additionally, the rate of the sensitivity of detecting stage I CRC was 62%.

Additional data revealed a sensitivity rate of 100% for stage II disease, 96% for stage III disease, and 100% for stage IV disease. The test also demonstrated 13% sensitivity for detecting advanced adenomas.

“We are pleased with the performance of the new algorithm in detecting stage I CRCs. Today’s update shows yet again that Shield delivers best-in-class performance,” AmirAli Talasaz, co-chief executive officer at Guardant Health, stated in the press release.1 “We will continue to leverage our first mover advantage, rapidly growing database, and innovation engine to push Shield to higher levels of performance over time.”

In June 2025, the NCCN updated its CRC screening guidelines to include Shield blood-based screening as a recommended option for testing once every 3 years among individuals who are at risk of having the disease.3 Furthermore, the FDA approved the Shield blood test as a primary screening option among adults who are 45 years or older and at an average risk of having CRC in July 2024.4 Supporting findings for the approval came from the ECLIPSE study.

“The persistent gap in [CRC] screening rates shows that the existing screening options do not appeal to millions of people. The FDA’s approval of the Shield blood test marks a tremendous leap forward, offering a compelling new solution to close this gap. This decision will help make screening tests more broadly accessible and propel blood-based testing and CRC screening into a new era,” Daniel Chung, MD, gastroenterologist at Massachusetts General Hospital and a professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School, stated in a press release on the FDA approval.4 “With increased screening rates and early cancer detection, many more lives can be saved.”

Developers engineered Shield as a non-invasive, blood-based screening test that can highlight the presence of CRC-associated alterations in the blood. A positive result following testing with Shield may indicate the presence of CRC or advanced adenocarcinoma; it is recommended that patients undergo colonoscopy evaluation in this case.

The prospective, observational ECLIPSE study evaluated the performance of the Shield test in the detection of CRC among average-risk populations across more than 200 clinical trial sites in urban and rural settings within 37 states. The study’s primary end points were the sensitivity of CRC detection and specificity of advanced neoplasia detection.5 Secondary end points included the positive predictive value of CRC detection, negative predictive value of CRC detection, and sensitivity and specificity of advanced adenocarcinoma detection.

Individuals 45 to 84 years old intended to undergo screening colonoscopy and considered to be at an average risk of having CRC were eligible for inclusion in this study. Additional eligibility criteria included having willingness to consent to blood draw pre-bowel preparation administration before undergoing colonoscopy within 60 days of the investigational blood draw. Those with a history of CRC, a known diagnosis of inflammatory bowel disease, or prior colonoscopy within 9 years before study entry were ineligible for enrollment.

  • Four-try Tafuna helps USA to essential big win over Samoa

Four-try Tafuna helps USA to essential big win over Samoa

YORK – The USA Women’s Eagles secured the bonus-point win over Samoa they needed to retain their hopes of progressing to the quarter-finals but, having done their bit, they must wait to see if England can snuff out Pool A rivals Australia’s last-eight hopes in Brighton.

    Story of the match

Needing a points-difference swing of 135 across the two Pool A matches, back-row Freda Tafuna quelled a lively Samoa start to scamper up the wing to score her third try of the competition. Hope Rogers, playing in her fourth Rugby World Cup, speared over from a well-worked lineout and added a second three minutes before Cassidy Bargell crossed to ensure the bonus point.

Erica Coulibaly benefited from USA’s support play for the team’s fifth try but at half-time a one-from-five conversion rate from the tee might have been preying on American minds given the points chasm.

Second-row Erica Jarrell-Searcy kept up her record of scoring in each pool game with an early try after the break, and the irrepressible Tafuna ran in her second and barrelled over from close range for another two scores despite team-mate Kristen Bitter being in the sin bin during the latter.

Full-back Taytana Pati Ah-Cheung almost brought the house down by going within a metre of the Eagles’ try line as the Manusina pushed for their first try of the tournament, only for Olivia Ortiz to overcome some superb Samoan defending to round off the scoring.

Freda Tafuna, Mastercard Player of the Match

Flanker Tafuna defied the number six on her jersey with her speed and attacking threat. She didn’t put a hand or foot wrong throughout the game.

“All glory to God, shout out to the girls, my family and friends back home and thank you to the crowd – you guys are the best!” she said on the pitch after full-time as both sets of players danced in celebration.

“We knew it was going to be a tough match, we know Samoa is a physical team and we knew that the points were a big thing in this tournament, so we tried to put on a show and put as many points on the board as possible.”

    Coach insight

Sione Fukofuka has been a picture of calm these past few weeks but even the USA head coach was getting caught up in the excitement as his players tried to run in more tries late in the game. Asked if the tally against Samoa might be enough, he replied: “Time will tell. We got 60 on the board, probably left a few more out there.

“I did want to acknowledge Samoa, they made it really tough for us and what they’ve brought to this World Cup has been amazing. We had some opportunities that we didn’t quite convert, so hopefully England does us a favour. We’ll watch it together, cheering on the England team and hoping for the best.”

Samoa head coach Ramsey Tomokino was proud of the effort shown by his team and was clear as to how they could improve. “It’s a learning curve for our players,” he said. “We have enjoyed our time here. Our 24th player is England. We need opportunities for our team to be playing in competitions so that our players can be better.”

    Stat of the Day

Tafuna may be a flanker but it’s the pace she combines with her power that led to the first of her quartet of tries in York. The 22-year-old made 15 carries, traversing 167 metres and scored one-third of her team’s points in their chase of Australia.

    Next steps

For USA, it’s a waiting game to see if England can defeat the Wallaroos by 75 points or more. If that happens, USA will play Canada in the quarter-finals.

Samoa head home having won a new army of fans in England and around the world. They may have lost their three pool matches heavily but they contributed hugely to each of their encounters. All but those in the Stars and Stripes inside York Community Stadium were willing them to score their first try of the tournament.

Fiji beat Wales in thriller to end RWC 2025 on a high

EXETER – Fiji beat Wales in Pool B to ensure they didn’t leave Rugby World Cup 2025 empty-handed after an entertaining match in front of a 14,082 sell-out crowd at a sun-drenched Sandy Park on Saturday.

    Story of the match

Wales started and finished the first half strongly with tries from Carys’ Cox and Sisilia Tuipulotu respectively and added another through Alex Callender.

But they could do little about Fiji’s ability to keep the ball alive with their trademark offloading game. Josifini Neihamu scored two tries from brilliant running lines before scrum-half Setaita Railumu’s snipe from the base of the scrum and Repeka Adi Tove’s made it four for Fiji in the first half.

Kayleigh Powell’s clever footwork gave Wales hope early in the second half but we had to wait until the 72nd minute for the next score, Wales moving within three points of Fiji after Lisa Neumann dived over in the corner.

But in a frantic finish, Fiji held out for just their second victory in Women’s Rugby World Cup history.

    Mastercard Player of the Match

Josifini Neihamu set Fiji on the way to victory with two brilliant first-half tries.

“I didn’t think I would be the player of the match today,” the inside centre said. “And to my teammates, well deserved for the win today. It was a tough week for us, we prepared so well, even though we lost our first two games, but it’s a big win for us today.

“For me the steal at the end was more important, because that is for my teammates and for my country.

“We gave our all today and we are making our family back home proud and today is for them. Thank you for waking up at this time back at home to watch us.”

    Coach insight

Head coach Ioan Cunningham said victory was huge for Fiji Rugby and Fijiana: “We set out on this journey to inspire young women and girls to play rugby back at home, and I think the team have done that, I’m so proud of them.”

“We’ve got an incredible group of athletes and players who can do special things on the field. My task has been to get that out of them, get them to express themselves and play with no fear, and we showed that today.

“This is an awesome platform for Fiji and the team to build upon, and who knows, the next four years they could do something really special.”

Wales head coach Sean Lynn believes this was the toughest of his team’s RWC 2025 defeat. “We had opportunities, we didn’t take them,” he said. “But one thing I will say is the character they showed from half-time to get themselves back in it was brilliant, but test-match rugby is brutal.”

“We will be moving forward, I can promise you that. Some of the youngsters who have been involved in this World Cup – Seren Lockwood came on and made a massive impact. I am not looking back, I am looking forward.”

    Stat of the Day

5 – number of conversions missed by Wales’s Keira Bevan; if she had kicked just two of those, Wales would have won. Fiji’s Litiana Vueti kicked four out of four.

Roman Bilinski inherits maiden victory after Tim Tramnitz penalised in Monza

Tim Tramnitz crossed the line in P1 but a post-race penalty saw Rodin Motorsport’s Roman Bilinski inherit a maiden Formula 3 victory at the Monza Sprint Race.

The Polish driver went from seventh on the grid and made impressive progress before taking the chequered flag in second place.

However, Tramnitz was found to have had a starting procedure infringement post-race, for which the Stewards elected to hand him a 10-second time penalty.

As a result, the MP Motorsport driver dropped from first to P18 in the final classification.

McLaren Development Programme member Martinius Stenshorne moves up one position to second for Hitech TGR, with ART Grand Prix driver Laurens van Hoepen taking the final spot on the podium.

DAMS Lucas Oil driver Matías Zagazeta achieves his best finish of the season in P4 ahead of Campos Racing’s Aston Martin junior Mari Boya in fifth.

Williams Driver Academy prospect Alessandro Giusti ended up sixth for MP, with Rodin’s Callum Voisin in eighth ahead of TRIDENT’s Noah Stromsted.

Ugo Ugochuku finished ninth for PREMA Racing, as Van Amersfoort Racing’s Théophile Nael took the final point in P10.

Ugochukwu will start from the front row in Sunday’s Feature Race, just behind AIX Racing’s Brad Benavides, who lines up on pole.
