A month after his “P.O.V.” hit streaming services, Tyler is still geeked that he’s on a Clipse project, well over 20 years since becoming a fan.

The Grammy-winning rapper joined Zane Lowe for an interview with Apple Music on Thursday (Aug. 7), where he called his collaboration with Clipse one of the top moments of his life to date.

“Just pressing play and hearing your voice on a Clipse album. I don’t think folks know the weight that s—t really got. I got Grammys, I got whips, I done did it all. That might be top eight moments of my life,” he claimed. “So thank you to Pusha, Malice, [Pharrell]. For real, love y’all down.”

Tyler told Hot 97 that he re-recorded his verse for the album about “79 to 100 times” before finally getting it right while recording on tour in Dublin, and admitted at one point that he nearly texted Pusha to scrap it altogether. “It’s been a few times I’ve gotten nervous and trying to nail that verse with two of my Mount Rushmores, produced by Mount Rushmore, was like I can’t f—k this up for me,” he said during the interview.

Tyler continued: “It took me so long to write that and just trying to perfect it … Was really in that b—h sweating. That n—a Pusha sent me that before I went on tour, probably in April and I ain’t get him that s—t until end of May, early June.”

“P.O.V.” entered the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 65 as a standout from Clipse’s Let God Sort Em Out, which debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200.

A laser-propelled mini spacecraft could travel to a nearby black hole, astrophysicist says

Future technology could one day allow a miniature, laser-propelled spacecraft — no heavier than a paperclip — to travel to a nearby black hole, according to a bold new proposal published on Thursday (Aug. 7).

The ambitious mission would aim to test the limits of Albert Einstein’s theory of general relativity in one of the universe’s most extreme environments. It may sound like the plot of a sci-fi novel, but to cosmologist Cosimo Bambi, this idea is rooted in real physics — and could be achievable within our lifetime.

  • Steve Tandy admits to shock over Louis Rees-Zammit’s return to rugby union

Steve Tandy admits to shock over Louis Rees-Zammit’s return to rugby union

New Wales boss Steve Tandy screamed in shock and told his daughter to pass him her phone after she read Louis Rees-Zammit was returning to rugby union.

Rees-Zammit has spent the last 18 months in the NFL after announcing in January 2024 that he would retire from rugby in order to pursue his American Football dream.

The 32-times capped Wales wing signed an active roster deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars for the 2025 season after being part of their practice squad in 2024 – but Tandy now looks set to have the 24-year-old flier at his disposal after he announced his rugby return on social media.

“My oldest daughter told me, that was a bit worrying,” Tandy said at his first press conference as Wales head coach.

“She said ‘Zammit’s coming home!’ And I was like ‘Aaaaaargh. Give me the phone!’ That was how I found out.

“As a coach, you daydream. Coming back, you’re obviously looking at what you’ve got. And then you look at what you could have.

“It’s obviously a great boost for him, the game and the fans. It’s great.”

Tandy, the first Welshman to coach the national team for 18 years, starts his role on September 1.

Wales play Argentina, Japan, New Zealand and South Africa in Cardiff in the autumn – and Rees-Zammit could now be involved.

“You can kid yourself that was my impact,” Tandy said of Rees-Zammit’s return. “I think you wouldn’t rule anything out.

“Zammo brings a big effect and excitement by coming back. I think it’s great for the game.

“He’s gone away to experience something new, which is class. I’m sure he will be in outstanding physical condition.

“The more players we have available to represent our country the better. That’s exciting and makes our jobs easier.

“It will also make our calls on selection a lot more challenging in terms of selection as we’ve already got some very good back three players.”

Rees-Zammit has said there is a “a load of interest” in his services but his rugby future remains unclear.

Welsh Rugby Union chief executive Abi Tierney said: “I’m over the moon Louis is coming back to rugby because it gives us him for the national team.

“The challenge we’ve got is we’re starting the season in September. You can have a look at what different teams are doing with their salary caps and their players.

“Are we in touch with Louis and trying to find a way in which we can make something work?

“Of course it would be fantastic. But I’m sure he’ll have lots of other offers as well.”

  • Ultrasound screening for vasa previa tied to better pregnancy outcomes

Ultrasound screening for vasa previa tied to better pregnancy outcomes

Standardized screening for vasa previa with ultrasound is tied to a high detection rate and high perinatal survival, suggest findings published August 7 in the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology

Researchers led by Bridget Donovan, MD, from the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, MA, found that standardized screening led to a pooled survival rate of about 98% among prenatally diagnosed cases.

“These findings make a strong case for standardized screening for vasa previa,” Donovan and colleagues wrote.

Vasa previa refers to unprotected fetal vessels running through the membranes over the cervix. Rupturing of these vessels during the antepartum period or in labor often leads to severe fetal blood loss, resulting in stillbirth or neonatal death.

Prenatal screening for vasa previa has been debated, with arguments against this approach being added costs, the potential for false positives, the availability of equipment and personnel for screening, and medico-legal considerations.

The Donovan team evaluated prenatal detection of vasa previa and perinatal survival in published studies that implemented standardized protocols. These included prospective second-trimester ultrasound screening protocols followed by ultrasound confirmation in the third trimester.

Final analysis included 19 publications with 779,845 pregnancies and 505 vasa previa cases (1 in 1,544). Of these, 494 (97.8%) were diagnosed prenatally.

Standardized second-trimester ultrasound screening with third-trimester confirmation achieved a perfect pooled sensitivity and specificity, 100% for both measures. This was based on 774,937 pregnancies and 11 false-positive cases.

Perinatal survival among prenatally diagnosed cases ranged from 87.5% to 100%, with a pooled survival rate of 98.2%, the researchers also found.

“Results remained consistent after excluding studies at high risk of bias,” the study authors wrote. “No evidence of publication bias was found.”

With these results in mind, they recommended that national and societal guidelines for obstetric imaging be updated to include universal screening for vasa previa.

“We recommend that all practitioners performing obstetric ultrasound be aware of the clinical significance and ultrasound appearance of vasa previa and that obstetric ultrasound policies implement universal screening to ensure optimal perinatal outcomes,” the authors wrote.

  • New Dreame vacuums just dropped: Here are the standout features

New Dreame vacuums just dropped: Here are the standout features

The biggest vacuum drop so far this year has just happened — over half a year after CES. Dreame unveiled a total of 16 new vacuums at a press event on Aug. 6, doubling iRobot’s March drop of eight new Roombas.

Dreame’s summer 2025 drop officially consists of the following: Seven robot vacuums (the Matrix10 Ultra, Aqua10 Roller, Aqua10 Ultra Roller, L50s Ultra, L40s Ultra, L40s Ultra AE, and L40s Ultra CE), four wet/dry vacuums (the H15 Pro CarpetFlex, H15 Pro Heat, H12 Pro FlexReach, and G10 Pro), and five stick vacuums (the R10 Pure, R20 Pure, Z30, Z30 Station, and Z30 Essential). Shipping will begin in September for some and October for others, with pricing info on the way. I’ll update this guide with prices once they’re announced.

As an anxious cat mom, I love my robot vacuum with a livestream camera

Several of the vacuums fall under the same “series” and have small differences, like docking stations. But amid all of these enigmatic names are some pretty cool features that could make several tricky aspects of floor cleaning more practical on a daily basis.

While I wait to get my hands on these new vacuums for at-home testing, let’s take a quick look at my four standouts from this dreamy drop:

The most unique addition to the Dreame robotic vacuum cleaner family is the Aqua10 Roller series. Here, Dreame ditched the spinning mopping pads (that just about every hybrid vacuum and their mother have nowadays) for a paint roller-esque roller mop that rinses itself as it cleans. This is meant to mitigate any possible spreading of a spill while the vacuum goes back and forth over the whole floor — exciting news for someone (me) who has watched a robot vacuum drag ranch dressing across the entire kitchen. This feels like an even more sanitary approach than the robotic mops that go back to the dock mid-cleaning session to rinse their mops, and should cut mopping time down significantly. To me, this is a much more practical fancy flex than the robotic arm on the Roborock Saros Z70.

The Matrix10 Ultra is another new flagship in the lineup. Its claim to fame has to do with mopping pad maintenance: The Multi-Mop Switching Dock can store three sets of double spinning mopping pads of varying textures, which the robot vacuum can switch between depending on the floor it’s about to clean. The two rotating mops can also be lifted and pressed down at different heights simultaneously, ensuring closer scrubbing of uneven flooring (like the thresholds in doorways where hardwood changes to tile or carpet).

Both of these new flagship robot vacuums clean with 30,000 Pa of suction power, beating the 20,000 and 22,000 Pa of my beloved Roborock Saros 10 and Saros 10R. And, speaking of thresholds between floor types, several of the new robot vacuums are outfitted with Dreame’s ProLeap system: A set of retractable legs on either side of the vacuum that hoist it over obstacles a few inches tall (up to 3.15 inches with the Aqua10 Roller series). I first experienced ProLeap when testing the Dreame X50 Ultra that was announced at CES 2025, and to be fully transparent, the use case felt quite limited. Actual stair climbing is still out of the question, but it could be helpful if your floors have any height changes, or if you need a robot vacuum to cross sliding door tracks.

    Dreame H15 Pro CarpetFlex

If you’re strictly in the “I’ll do it myself” camp when it comes to cleaning, the H15 Pro CarpetFlex is a… well, dream. It’s Dreame’s first hard floor and carpet cleaning combo vacuum, which adds heated wet roller mops to the traditional vacuum cleaning head for carpet stain liquefaction. Inside the vacuum head also lies the TangleCut system to prevent hair from wrapping around the roller. The H15 Pro CarpetFlex even washes and dries its wet cleaning system on the charging dock.

    Dreame Z30

    Credit: Dreame

While Dreame gives Roborock a run for its money in the premium robot vacuum department, it’s coming for Dyson with these new cordless stick vacuums. The Dreame Z30, in particular, has strong potential to make the next cut of my best cordless vacuums list. Why? Because, on paper at least, it’s more powerful than the most powerful Dyson — it shells out 310AW of suction power compared to the Dyson Gen5outsize’s 250AW.

Dreame’s new CelesTect Dust Reveal Technology also poses another inevitable Dyson comparison. Dreame describes the illumination on the Z30’s cleaning head as LEDs on the multi-surface brush that “effectively detect and expose tiny dust particles in hard-to-reach corners or dimly lit areas.” I’ll be pumped if another vacuum brand finally gets on the level of Dyson’s green dust-highlighting laser, but the mention of LEDs is just giving lightbulbs. Time (and testing in my apartment) will tell.

  • Researchers directly measure quantum distance for the first time

Researchers directly measure quantum distance for the first time

Researchers at Yonsei University in South Korea have directly measured the quantum distance in a solid material, black phosphorus, for the first time, which has significant implications for quantum physics and the development of new technologies.

    Quantum metric measurement

The quantum metric is a measure that helps determine electronic properties in solid-state materials, such as transport behaviour. While it has previously been measured in artificial systems, obtaining this quantity in real solids has proven to be a considerable challenge, until now.

The Yonsei University team, in collaboration with researchers from the USA and led by Keun Su Kim, Underwood Distinguished Professor of Physics and Director of the Centre for Bandstructure Engineering at Yonsei University, has reported the first experimental measurement of the quantum distance in black phosphorus. Their findings have been published in the journal Science.

The research brought together an experimental group from Yonsei University, including Yoonah Chung and Soobin Park, and a theory group from Seoul National University led by Professor Bohm-Jung Yang, with Sunje Kim and Yuting Qian.

Black phosphorus as a research candidate

Black phosphorus was selected by the theory group as an ideal material for investigating the quantum distance of electrons due to its structural simplicity. Using guidance from the theory team, the experimental group employed photoemission measurements, specifically, the angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy technique and synchrotron radiation via the Advanced Light Source in the USA, to study black phosphorus.

“The theory group found that one of the elemental layered crystals, black phosphorus, is an ideal material to study the quantum distance of electrons owing to its structural simplicity. Based on this input, the experimental group measured the quantum distance of electrons in black phosphorus using the momentum space distribution of the pseudospin texture of the valence band from the polarization dependence of angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy technique and synchrotron radiation via Advanced Light Source in the USA.”

    Implications for quantum science

The quantum distance measures the similarity between two quantum states. A distance of one means the states are the same, while a distance of zero means they are completely opposite. The concept has been present in theoretical physics for some time, but its experimental measurement in real materials has been a continuing target for researchers.

By successfully measuring the full quantum metric tensors of Bloch electrons in black phosphorus, the research has established a precedent for direct measurement in other solid-state systems. Prof. Kim highlighted the broader impact of this achievement, stating:

“Measuring the quantum distance is fundamentally important not only to understand anomalous quantum phenomena in solids, including special ones such as superconductors, but also to advance our quantum science and technologies. As an example, a precise measure of quantum distances would help develop fault-tolerant quantum computation technologies.”

    Advancements in technology

Understanding material behaviour at the quantum mechanical level is regarded as a critical foundation for advances in multiple fields. Measurement of the quantum distance enables comprehensive exploration of complex phenomena in solids and underpins progress in semiconductor technology, the development of higher transition-temperature superconductors, and quantum computing.

The methodologies demonstrated by the Yonsei University team are expected to inform future investigations of quantum geometric responses in a wide range of crystalline materials.

The study’s outcomes are expected to contribute knowledge crucial for the development of advanced superconductors, next-generation semiconductors, and quantum computers that can surpass conventional technologies in reliability and power.

Irish chef Anna Haugh to replace MasterChef host Gregg Wallace – The Irish Times

Irish chef Anna Haugh is to replace MasterChef host Gregg Wallace in the final episodes of the popular cooking show after allegations of misconduct saw him fired.

Originally from Tallaght, Co Dublin, Ms Haugh trained as a chef at Technological University Dublin’s culinary arts school before going on to work with the likes of Philip Howard, Shane Osborne and Gordon Ramsay.

She has been cooking professionally for almost 20 years, having spent more than a decade in London.

Ms Haugh, who owns Myrtle Restaurant in Chelsea, London, and the nearby Wee Sister Wine Bar, has appeared on several BBC cooking shows to date, including as a guest judge on MasterChef and as a judge on its professionals spin-off.

Earlier this year, she fronted her own BBC food series, Anna Haugh’s Big Irish Food Tour, in which she took a culinary tour of Ireland.

A MasterChef spokesperson confirmed that Ms Haugh steps in for the final week of this year’s competition.

Her replacement of Mr Wallace comes as the 60-year-old stepped away from hosting after several historical complaints came to light during filming of the competition now airing.

BBC News reported last month that Mr Wallace had been dismissed as MasterChef presenter following an inquiry into his alleged misconduct by production company Banijay.

A report revealed that 83 complaints had been made against him, with more than 40 upheld, including one of unwelcome physical contact and another three of being in a state of undress.

Mr Wallace insisted he was cleared of “the most serious and sensational allegations”.

Despite the controversy, the BBC said airing the show was “the right thing to do” for contestants taking part.

Revealed – Four Names On Inter Milan Shortlist If Lookman Pursuit Falls Through

Inter Milan are targeting Christopher Nkunku, Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, and Antonio Nusa if their move for Ademola Lookman fails.

This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews. They report that the Nerazzurri have a four-man backup shortlist in attack.

Right now, Inter Milan are still all-in on signing Ademola Lookman.

However, Sky Sport Italia report, the Nerazzurri are accepting the possibility that their pursuit of the Nigerian could fail.

Inter see Lookman as a perfect opportunity to bolster their attack with a proven commodity from within Serie A. However, they will not break the bank to sign the 27-year-old.

And if Inter cannot sign Lookman for what they consider a reasonable fee, they will sign a different attacker.

Inter Target Nkunku, Garnacho, Sancho & Nusa If Lookman Move Falls Through

According to Sky Sport Italia, Inter have four names in mind as possible signings if they cannot seal the deal for Lookman.

Three of these are from within the Premier League. They are Chelsea’s Christopher Nkunku and out-of-favour Manchester United duo Alejandro Garnacho and Jadon Sancho

All three of the trio will certainly be available this summer. They are out of the plans at Chelsea and United, who are working to offload some players from their bloated squad.

Therefore, Inter blieve that they could sign any of Nkunku, Garnacho, or Sancho on loan.
