    Honor Magic V Flip 2 has been rumored to launch this month in China as a successor to the Magic V Flip, which was unveiled in June 2024. Although Honor hasn’t made any official announcements regarding the V Flip 2, there have been several leaks about it.

    As per the latest unofficial report, Honor’s upcoming clamshell foldable will offer an edge-to-edge cover display that will support an improved user interface. The panel will be of the LTPO variety, offering adaptive refresh rate and high brightness.

    Notably, a previous leak claimed that the Magic V Flip 2 will adopt a new design for the rear cameras.

    Unlike the vertical uneven camera cutouts on the V Flip, the upcoming phone is rumored to get uniform camera rings.

    The Honor Magic V Flip 2 is also said to house a larger battery compared to the current model. It should also offer faster 66W or 80W charging.

    A 60-year-old man’s attempt to eat healthier by cutting salt from his diet took a dangerous turn after he followed advice from ChatGPT. His decision ultimately led to a hospital stay and a diagnosis of a rare and potentially life-threatening condition called bromism.

    The incident has sparked fresh concerns about relying on AI tools like ChatGPT for medical guidance, especially without consulting healthcare professionals. The case was recently detailed in a report published in the American College of Physicians Journals.

    According to the report, the man asked ChatGPT how to eliminate sodium chloride (commonly known as table salt) from his diet. In response, he replaced it with sodium bromide– a substance once commonly used in medications in the early 1900s, but now known to be toxic in large quantities. He had reportedly been using sodium bromide for three months, sourced online, based on what he read from the AI chatbot.

    The man, who had no prior history of psychiatric or physical health issues, was admitted to the hospital after experiencing hallucinations, paranoia, and severe thirst. During his initial 24 hours in care, he showed signs of confusion and refused water, suspecting it was unsafe.

    Doctors soon diagnosed him with bromide toxicity, a condition that is now extremely rare but was once more common when bromide was used to treat anxiety, insomnia, and other conditions. Symptoms include neurological disturbances, skin issues like acne, and red skin spots known as cherry angiomas–all of which the man displayed.

    “Inspired by his past studies in nutrition, he decided to run a personal experiment to remove chloride from his diet,” the report noted. He told doctors he had seen on ChatGPT that bromide could be used in place of chloride, though the source seemed to reference industrial rather than dietary use.

    Following three weeks of treatment involving fluids and electrolyte balance, the man was stabilised and discharged from the hospital.

    The authors of the case study warned about the growing risk of misinformation from AI: “It is important to consider that ChatGPT and other AI systems can generate scientific inaccuracies, cannot critically discuss results, and ultimately fuel the spread of misinformation.”

    OpenAI, the developer of ChatGPT, acknowledges this in its Terms of Use, stating: “You should not rely on Output from our Services as a sole source of truth or factual information, or as a substitute for professional advice.”

    The terms further clarify: “Our Services are not intended for use in the diagnosis or treatment of any health condition.”

    The alarming case adds to the ongoing global conversation about the limitations and responsibilities around AI-generated advice–particularly in matters involving physical and mental health.

    Scientists from the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Argonne National Laboratory are part of a group recognized for their advancements in chemistry-aware artificial intelligence software.

    The team has received the 2025 Royal Society of Chemistry’s Materials Chemistry Horizon Prize, the result of a collaborative effort between scientists from Argonne, the University of Cambridge, STFC Rutherford Appleton Laboratory and the Australian National Science and Technology Organisation, along with other partners from around the globe.

Cole fostered a synergistic partnership that has driven significant advancements in the design of organic dye-sensitized solar cells and other emerging technologies aimed at harnessing solar energy.

    “Research is a collaborative endeavor. This award recognizes the whole team, everyone who made a significant technical or research contribution. That mix between scientific government entities and universities, there is huge added value in that,” said Cole. ​“It makes a statement to the world that we succeed by working in close partnership, and we’ve done something very tangible and useful with it.”

    The Materials Chemistry Horizon Prize has been awarded to the entire 89-member team, with each team member receiving a certificate and individual recognition for their role in the groundbreaking work.

    The Royal Society of Chemistry honored the team for pioneering new AI-powered tools that make it faster and easier to discover advanced materials. Their open-source software enables researchers worldwide to efficiently explore massive data sets and simulate chemical properties, turning materials discovery from a process of chance into a rational, accelerated pathway, ultimately shortening the ​“molecule-to-market” timeline and helping innovations reach real-world devices and industries faster.

    The international team, which spans five continents, developed and shared databases, machine learning models and simulation workflows that are already transforming how materials are designed.

    “This recognition is a testament to the power of international partnership and innovation. It highlights the years of dedicated collaboration with Professor Cole’s team and her determination to innovate at the intersection of chemistry, artificial intelligence and computing,” said Álvaro Vázquez-Mayagoitia, a computational scientist at the Argonne Leadership Computing Facility (ALCF) who worked on the project. ​“It acknowledges Professor Cole’s visionary leadership, which has inspired scientists across academia, government and industry on multiple continents to achieve high-impact research outcomes. Our team pushed the boundaries of scientific research and has provided essential tools for researchers worldwide.”

    Vázquez-Mayagoitia played a key role in supporting the team’s research at the ALCF, a DOE Office of Science user facility. ​“In this project, my role was centered in facilitating large-scale simulations and analyzing their results. Our team developed the codes and scripts necessary for rapidly generating a comprehensive dye database, integrating both experimental and simulated data,” he said.

    The team built a high-throughput, automated workflow that combined data mining, machine learning and quantum chemistry simulations to evaluate nearly 10,000 organic dyes. By screening for key properties like molecular structure, polarity and light absorption, they narrowed the pool to five top candidates.

    “We needed one of the best supercomputers in the world, and the ALCF gave us that,” said Cole. ​“Specialized computing allowed us to make AI predictions that were fast, detailed and comprehensive. That was absolutely essential.”

    These predictions were then confirmed through lab experiments and device testing. The project shows how AI and simulation, when integrated at scale, can dramatically reduce the time it takes to go from design to working technology.

    “The AI tools we built are really a platform technology,” Cole added. ​“We’re already using them in other areas like magnetism, batteries and optoelectronics.”

    The Center for Nanoscale Materials is one of the five DOE Nanoscale Science Research Centers, premier national user facilities for interdisciplinary research at the nanoscale supported by the DOE Office of Science.

    Pedro Pascal To Star In Tony Gilroy’s Next Film ‘Behemoth!’

    EXCLUSIVE: Following a busy 2025 that included an Emmy nominated performance and a Marvel Studios movie, Pedro Pascal isn’t looking to slow down as he is in talks to star in the Searchlight Pictures pic Behemoth! from writer-director Tony Gilroy. Searchlight recently came on to the project which Gilroy will write and direct. While the deal is not closed, sources say Pascal wants to do it and things are headed in the right direction.

    Plot details are vague at this time but Gilroy has said in interviews that the film revolves around a cellist. Gilroy would also produce with Sanne Wohlenberg. The film is set to begin principal photography this fall in Los Angeles, with release plans to be announced at a later date.

    Pascal is coming off a hugely successful summer, with A24 and Celine Song’s Materialists, A24 and Ari Aster’s Eddington and Marvel’s Fantastic Four: First Steps. All three projects premiered to widespread critical acclaim, with Materialists being A24’s third highest grossing opening ever, and Fantastic Four: First Steps being Marvel’s highest grossing opening of 2025.

    Fantastic Four kicked off the next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and Pascal recently wrapped production on the next Avengers movie, Avengers: Doomsday, which will premiere in 2026. Also in 2026, Pedro will reprise his role as Din Djarin in Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu.

    Chinese investment banker Bao Fan released from detention after two years, source says | China

    Bao Fan, star dealmaker and the founder of the boutique investment bank China Renaissance Holdings, has been released more than two years after being detained by Chinese authorities, according to a person with knowledge of the matter.

    China Renaissance sent shock waves through the country’s financial sector in 2023 when it announced it was unable to contact Bao, who founded the bank in 2005 with two others and still owns nearly 49% of its issued shares. The company’s share price tanked as a result of his detention.

    He was one of several high-profile executives in China – mostly from the finance industry – who have gone missing in recent years with little explanation amid a sweeping anti-corruption campaign spearheaded by the president, Xi Jinping.

    His disappearance rattled professionals in the banking industry of the world’s second-largest economy, as Beijing pressed its campaign to rein in the “lavish lifestyle” of the “financial elite”.

    His release comes as China seeks to drive up business confidence, particularly for the country’s tech entrepreneurs, whose businesses have struggled under a years-long crackdown.

    The private sector has been reeling from weak domestic consumption and a prolonged debt crisis in the property industry, against a broader backdrop of heightened trade tensions with the US.

    “This is certainly a positive signal, as Bao was the most high-profile financier detained in recent years,” said Christopher Beddor, deputy China research director of Gavekal Dragonomics.

    “Still, it won’t change the fact that the anti-corruption campaign continues to churn through the financial sector, and the common prosperity campaign has led to sweeping pay caps and even clawbacks,” said Beddor. “China’s financial sector remains a long way from its heyday only a few years ago.”

    Bao, widely regarded as one of China’s best-connected bankers, was released from detention earlier this week, the source said on Friday, declining to be identified because the information was not public.

    He had been involved in high-profile deals including the mergers of the ride-hailing companies Didi and Kuaidi, food delivery giants Meituan and Dianping, and travel platforms Ctrip and Qunar.

    China Renaissance Bao have yet to respond to Reuters’ requests for comment. Chinese media Caixin first reported Bao’s release, citing unidentified sources.

    China Renaissance’s shares jumped 17% on Friday to close at HK$6.87 ($0.8752) before the news of his release became public.

    Bao, who previously worked at Credit Suisse and Morgan Stanley, went missing in February 2023. Trade in China Renaissance shares was suspended in April 2023 after the bank delayed publication of its audited annual results as a result of mainland Chinese authorities detaining its chief executive.

    A Chinese financial publication reported in May 2023 he was detained by disciplinary and supervision officials. Authorities have not yet provided an explanation. China Renaissance resumed trading of its shares in September last year. They plunged 72% on their opening day.

    Sources have previously told Reuters he was taken away to assist in an investigation into a former colleague.

    Xie Yi Jing, who co-founded China Renaissance, replaced Bao as chair in February last year.

    Subsequently, Bao’s wife Hui Yin Ching was appointed as chair to lead the boutique investment bank in October, with changes in other senior management ranks as well.
