Meghan Markle turns into unfair brand owner with new overcharge

Meghan Markle accused of orchestrating a ‘wine robbery’: ‘Its as bitter as her’

Meghan Markle’s new product sold at three bottles minimum has sparked major distaste among people like chef Jameson Stocks.

In light of this “great wine robbery” as he calls it, the culinary dabbler slammed the Duchess, and even sounded the alarm over her decision to put the minimum order requirement on her newest product Napa Valley rosé.

According to a report by Express UK he started by pointing out the fact that “nobody knows what it tastes like,” yet but may end up getting something that “tastes like vinegar and be as bitter as her.”

For those unversed, the three bottle minimum puts the price of the wine at “high” £22 a pop.

“It’s similar to her other products, it’s not meant to be affordable for the general public but rather caters to a more exclusive market.”

At one point he also revealed his own experience making an alcoholic product and rubbished her pricing.

“Having worked extensively in South Africa, a region known for producing some of the world’s finest wines, I’m confident that you can create top-quality wine at a fraction of the price she’s charging and still make a decent enough mark up per bottle,” he said.

Especially since the chef himself is collaborating “regularly with vineyards and growers there, for his own wine in South Africa which is slated for next year.

One aspect of Meghan’s decisions the chef did agree with was her decision to source from Napa Valley which is often called the “wine capital of America”.

Reason being “the quality of the wine is evident, which explains why she chose to align herself with Napa Valley’s reputation.”

However, despite that he pointed out “producing large quantities of wine, prices tend to drop significantly compared to what she charges” and because of this he also accused the former-royal of trying to “overcharge her loyal fan base” full of people who “might not be able to afford it.”

In his concluding words he also highlighted the current situation of the world and added, “in the current global cost of living crisis, I find it unacceptable that the price of the wine is so high.”

Wales will face France in their second fixture at Euro 2025 in Switzerland

There is “deep disappointment ” that no Welsh government minister will be at Wales’ match against France at Euro 2025.

While First Minister Eluned Morgan will be at the side’s first ever game at a major tournament when they play the Netherlands in Switzerland on Saturday, there will be no representatives for the France game on 9 July.

Culture Minister Jack Sargeant will be at the final group game against England on 13 July.

One Senedd committee member said it would be “embarrassing for our team” if there was not a presence at every game.

Eluned Morgan said the government had to balance representing the nation with value for money for the taxpayer.

Chairwoman of the culture committee, Delyth Jewell, has written to the first minister urging her to attend the France game.

She said the move “risks conveying that our women’s team is not afforded the same recognition or support as others on the international stage”.

The Welsh government said Morgan would “support our fantastic national team” at their tournament opener, adding that it had invested £1m into projects linked to the tournament “to create a lasting and positive legacy”.

But there were concerns among committee members that the government would miss an opportunity to promote Wales.

Labour Member of the Senedd for Llanelli Lee Waters said it would be “embarrassing for our team if other governments are at every match and ours were not”.

“This is an amazing opportunity for Wales and we should seize it to support the team and punch above our weight in the sporting world.”

Plaid Cymru’s spokeswoman for sport, Heledd Fychan, made a comparison with the government’s support for the men’s team at the World Cup in Qatar in 2022.

She said the then-first minister Mark Drakeford “believed it was an obligation for the Welsh government to be in attendance to not only support the team, but also to use the platform the World Cup provides to make Wales known around the world”.

She added that it was “a shame” ministers were not following the example of fans to “make our nation proud and raise the profile of Wales across the world”.

The committee urged the first minister to reconsider, especially as they were advised that French president Emmanuel Macron is expected to be there.

Jewell said a visible ministerial presence “would demonstrate the Welsh government’s commitment to gender equality in sport”.

The Welsh government said: “Qualification for the women’s Euros is an outstanding achievement and an inspiration to generations of female footballers in Wales.

“We wish our national team the very best of luck and thank them for all they are doing to represent Wales on the international stage.”

Eluned Morgan told BBC Wales: “I’m hopeful we will get through to further rounds, and if so we will need to consider whether we send a minister at that point.

“We’re trying to get the balance right between representing the nation and making sure we get good value for taxpayers.

“I just want to wish the women of Wales who are playing in that team the very best. I hope the nation will get behind them.”

Smaller firms to escape ‘burdensome’ Companies House filing rules | Business

Changes to Companies House rules that would have axed an exemption allowing smaller businesses to file abbreviated accounts have been delayed amid concerns they could burden them with more red tape.

Legislation brought in by the previous Conservative administration is due to compel companies with a turnover under £10.2m, balance sheets under £5.1m and fewer than 50 employees to disclose more detail in their annual accounts from April 2027.

However, the business secretary, Jonathan Reynolds, is understood to be have reversed the move to reduce regulatory hurdles for small firms. A government source said: “We have paused them, Jonny is worried it’s too burdensome”.

Last month the government unveiled its industrial strategy in which it said it aims to “reduce regulatory burdens and speed innovation [by] cutting the administrative costs of regulation for business by 25%”.

The proposals to make companies publish more comprehensive financial information were designed to remove longstanding exemptions that allowed small firms to file “abridged accounts” and counter criticisms that the more relaxed rules for qualifying businesses had enabled fraud.

The intention had been that small companies would be required to use a set format to electronically file a profit and loss statement, which would be able to be viewed by the public and would include information such as turnover and costs.

Business groups had criticised the move saying that small companies would be forced to pay to use expensive computer software to meet the new regulations. However, Companies House had said the measures, which were set out in the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act, would “be a critical step towards improving the quality of the data on the register”.

Companies House has long faced criticism of how it polices the information that it holds. In April it emerged that the agency had collected just £1,250 in fines after being given new powers to crack down on corruption.

A spokesperson for the Department for Business and Trade said: “This government is committed to avoiding undue burdens on businesses as part of our plan for change.”

Bronny James: ‘I don’t pay attention’ to rumors around LeBron

Bronny James and LeBron James made NBA history in 2024-25 as the first father-son duo to play together.

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. (AP) — Although Bronny James tries to stay off all social media, that strategy didn’t stop one of his friends from calling him up this week and asking him about LeBron James’ thoughts on the Los Angeles Lakers’ direction — and what it all might mean for Bronny’s future.

“I said, ‘I have no idea what you’re talking about,’” Bronny James said with a grin Wednesday after practice with the Lakers’ NBA Summer League team. “I don’t really pay attention to that stuff. There’s a lot of stuff going around that I don’t pay attention to.”

Bronny sounds ready to spend a long, hot summer ducking rumors, pleading ignorance on innuendo and concentrating on the work necessary to become a contributor during his second NBA season with the Lakers.

LeBron James has decided to pick up his $52.6 million player option with the Lakers for his record 23rd NBA season — but his longtime agent, Rich Paul, announced the news with ambiguous comments in which he declared LeBron’s desire to compete for a championship this season, even while the Lakers are building for the future around Luka Dončić.

While many NBA observers are interpreting the comments as a prelude to a possible trade if the Lakers aren’t an elite team in the fall, Bronny James said he isn’t thinking or looking that far ahead. The Lakers took a big step toward contention Wednesday when center Deandre Ayton reportedly agreed to sign with them as a free agent, filling their most glaring offseason need.

LeBron and Bronny became the first father and son to play together in NBA history last season, but the 20-year-old son of the top scorer in NBA history claims he doesn’t know what the future holds.

“We don’t really talk about that much, but I think when stuff like that does come up, he just tells me to not worry about it, not even pay attention to it,” Bronny said. “Just lock in to what you have going on right now, and that’s what’s going to get me better and keep me focused. I think it’s good that he tells me not to pay attention to that stuff.”

James first played for the Lakers a year ago in the NBA Summer League, and he is returning this month for another run. The Lakers’ first game is in front of their famously passionate Vegas fans against No. 1 pick Cooper Flagg and the Dallas Mavericks in the marquee event of the tournament.

“Last year it was a crazy environment for me to step in and produce right off — being nervous, too,” Bronny said. “I feel like this year I’ll be able to go out and play freely and know what I’m going to go out there and do for me and my teammates. I’m just really excited to be able to play nervous-free.”

Bronny’s focus is on his conditioning and his diet. He has slimmed down to 215 pounds with a bit more work still to go, and he wants to be able to play 10-minute stretches with no fade.

That’s also important for the mental aspect of the game for Bronny, who went into cardiac arrest two years ago during a summer workout at USC.

“I think that side of confidence just comes with time, and being able to go through or endure myself at a longer rate of time,” Bronny said. “Just being able to be out there for longer time, going at it, just coming in every day and pushing myself even more than I did the last day, I think, is really good for me.”

Bronny also reaffirmed his determination to be a defensive stopper, even though he showed an ability to score last season in the G League and during a 17-point performance against the Milwaukee Bucks last March.

“I can’t lose that defensive drive that will get me on the floor,” Bronny said. “There’s going to be guys that can go out and score 15, 20 (points) a game. I’m most likely not going to be that guy right now, but to get myself on the floor, I have to be a defensive menace, and that’s my main focus, getting into that condition this year.”

Bronny won’t get a chance to play alongside Adou Thiero in Las Vegas, however. The Lakers’ second-round draft pick is still building strength after the left knee injury that bothered him at Arkansas, and while he won’t play in Summer League, he is expected to be fully ready for training camp.

PM, military leadership played key role in brokering Iran-Israel ceasefire: Naqvi

    Listen to article

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi stated that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the military leadership played a pivotal role in the Iran-Israel conflict and the subsequent ceasefire between the two countries.

“Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif played a crucial role in the ceasefire between Israel and Iran, and the military also played a significant role in this regard. I don’t want to go into further details, but the way PM negotiated with world leaders is something we must be proud of,” he said.

The 12-day war, which began with unprovoked Israeli military strikes in Iran on June 13, resulted in 610 deaths, including senior nuclear scientists and high-ranking military commanders. In retaliation, strikes from Iran killed 28 in Israel.

The US joined the conflict on June 22 with bunker-buster bombings on Iran’s nuclear facilities in Natanz, Fordow, and Isfahan. A US-brokered ceasefire was reached on June 24, shortly after Iran launched missiles at the largest US airbase in the Middle East, located in Qatar.

Recalling the recent Pakistan-India conflict that ended after US President Trump brokered a ceasefire, he stated that during India’s attack, Field Marshal Asim Munir stood firm and strong, and his resolve was that India would have to suffer four times as much.

The minister made these remarks during a meeting with religious scholars in Islamabad on Thursday, which focused on maintaining law and order during Muharram.

Speaking on the occasion, Naqvi appreciated the role of religious scholars in establishing peace. He suggested that the chairman of the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee adopt a theme of unity among people of different schools of thought, encouraging them to work together without abandoning their own beliefs or interfering with others.

    Pakistan-India conflict

The latest escalation between Pakistan and India began on April 22, when an attack in Pahalgam killed 26 people. India immediately blamed Pakistan for the incident. However, Pakistan categorically rejected the Indian blame.

Tensions further escalated in the early hours of May 7, when missile strikes hit six cities in Punjab and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), destroying a mosque and killing dozens of civilians, including women, children, and the elderly.

In a swift military response, Pakistan’s armed forces shot down Indian warplanes, including three Rafale jets. The confrontation intensified again in the early hours of May 10, when India targeted several Pakistani airbases with missile strikes.

In retaliation, Pakistan launched Operation Bunyanum Marsoos, damaging Indian military installations, including missile storage sites, airbases, and other strategic targets.

On May 10, US President Donald Trump announced that a ceasefire had been reached following intense diplomatic efforts overnight. Minutes later, the agreement was confirmed separately by Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and the Indian foreign secretary.

The US dollar is on track for its worst year in modern history

The US dollar is on track for its worst year in modern history and may not be done falling yet. The greenback is down more than 7% this year and Morgan Stanley predicts it could fall another 10%. A weaker dollar could make US exports more competitive, boosting Trump’s plan to rebalance US trade, but makes imports more expensive, adding to the sting of tariffs.

A chart showing the value of the dollar versus other global currencies in 2025.

The question ahead is whether the dollar doesn’t just lose its value, but its role at the center of the global financial system. So far, there are few alternatives. And efforts to de-dollarize — central banks shifting into gold, China shoveling its currency into developing nations through swap lines — haven’t meaningfully shifted the picture. But as political economist Ngaire Woods wrote for Semafor in an essay earlier this year, “they haven’t dethroned the dollar, but that’s because the US government has protected it through sound policy and global engagement.”

Food for thought: The year that came closest to 2025 in dollar depreciation was 1973, and the result was then-President Richard Nixon taking the US off the gold standard. “Big moves in the dollar tend to create moments of instability,” Morgan Stanley’s Wilson said.

  • Pakistani celebrities’ social media accounts geo-blocked again in India

Pakistani celebrities’ social media accounts geo-blocked again in India

The social media accounts of several Pakistani celebrities were geo-blocked again on Thursday (July 3, 2025), hours after they became briefly accessible to users in India — a development that had triggered sharp reactions across social media platforms.

Some of the previously restricted profiles became visible on Wednesday (July 2, 2025), reportedly due to a technical glitch. However, following the issue being brought to the attention of the authorities, the content was once again geo-restricted and is no longer accessible in India.

In the wake of the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs had recommended the blocking of 16 YouTube channels based in Pakistan. These were accused of disseminating provocative and communally sensitive content, false narratives, and misinformation targeting India, its armed forces, and security agencies.

The list of banned YouTube channels includes prominent media outlets such as Dawn News, ARY News, Samaa TV, Bol News, and Geo News, along with other channels such as Irshad Bhatti, Raftar, The Pakistan Reference, Samaa Sports, GNN, Uzair Cricket, Umar Cheema Exclusive, Asma Shirazi, Muneeb Farooq, Suno News, and Raazi Naama.

In addition, the social media profiles of Pakistani public figures — including actors Mahira Khan, Saba Qamar, Ahad Raza Mir, Danish Taimoor, Yumna Zaidi, Fawad Khan, Mawra Hocane, and Hania Aamir — as well as cricketers such as Shahid Afridi, Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Wasim Akram, Shan Masood, Hasan Ali, Naseem Shah, Imam-ul-Haq, Shadab Khan, and Shoaib Akhtar — remain geo-blocked in India.

Further, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting had issued an advisory to over-the-top (OTT) platforms, media streaming services, and digital intermediaries in India, instructing them to discontinue web series, films, songs, podcasts, and other forms of media content originating from Pakistan.

The advisory cited national security considerations, stating, “Several terrorist attacks in India have been established to have cross-border linkages with Pakistan-based state and non-state actors… On April 22, the terrorist attack in Pahalgam led to the killing of several Indians, one Nepali citizen, and injuries to a number of others…”.

Quoting Part III of the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, the Ministry underscored the responsibilities of content publishers on OTT platforms. It also referenced Rule 3(1)(b) of Part II of the IT Rules, 2021, which stipulates that intermediaries must ensure that users do not upload or share content that “threatens the unity, integrity, defence, security or sovereignty of India, friendly relations with foreign States, or public order”.
