  • Colombian parents name baby ‘Chat Yipiti’ after AI program

Colombian parents name baby ‘Chat Yipiti’ after AI program

Aug. 19 (UPI) — A Colombian family named their newborn daughter “Chat Yipiti” after the AI program ChatGPT. Despite the unusual name, the child was registered without objection at the National Registry office in the town of Cereté.

According to local media, the parents of Chat Yipiti Bastidas Guerra said they chose the name as a “tribute” to the era of artificial intelligence.

This has sparked all kinds of reactions among social media users, as many disagree with the parents’ decision, not knowing what consequences it might have in the future.

The case is not unique. Colombia has a history of officially registering unconventional names, from those inspired by sports, movie and music stars such as “Maicol Yordan” and “Brayan Spears” that have stirred controversy.

The National Registry has intervened in the past to prohibit names such as “Miperro” (My Dog) or “Satanás” (Satan), which it said clearly violated a person’s dignity.

In Colombia, while the law does not specify a list of prohibited names, it gives officials at the National Civil Registry the authority to deny registration if they believe a name could harm a child’s dignity or reputation.

“Legal precedent has established that a registrar may refuse to record names that result from phonetic or grammatical combinations suggesting obscene words, that clearly show an intent to mock the child, or that are so extravagant they could expose the child to discriminatory or degrading treatment,” Bogotá attorney José Francisco Guerra said.

Across Latin America, it is common to find variations on the names of Hollywood stars or cult film characters. Names such as “Yeison” (Jason) and even “Stallone,” in honor of Sylvester Stallone, have been registered.

Spanish phonetics often alter the spelling of foreign names, creating unique combinations. In Brazil, names from soap opera characters are common, often as inventive as the dramas that inspire them.

In the past, children have been registered with names such as “Mozart” and “Facebook” and even those of singers, products, musical groups or historical figures.

However, experts in child psychology and sociology have voiced concern. An unusual name, or one that invites jokes, can expose a child to ridicule and affect self-esteem and emotional well-being.

  • Selena Gomez’s fiance Benny Blanco earns unique spot in Hollywood: Report

Selena Gomez’s fiance Benny Blanco earns unique spot in Hollywood: Report

Photo: Selena Gomez’s fiance Benny Blanco wins over friend circle with humility: Report

Selena Gomez is reportedly thriving in her engagement with Benny Blanco.

While the songbird, may have earlier raised eyebrows when she went public with her relationship with Benny Blanco, but it seems the music producer has finally won over her inner circle.

As fans will be aware, the 33-year-old singer and actress faced backlash after confirming her romance with Blanco, but their bond has only strengthened.

The pair are now engaged and reportedly planning a traditional Jewish wedding ceremony this fall.

According to Star Magazine, Blanco’s charm and down-to-earth personality have impressed even the toughest critics.

“He has a real sense of humor and a disarming humility about him that instantly puts people at ease,” an insider shared.

“They’ve seen and heard it all, and Benny can still make them laugh and feel comfortable around him.”

The report appears to ease earlier claims from RadarOnline.com, which suggested Gomez was growing frustrated over Blanco’s fear of flying.

At the time, a source alleged, “Selena is not sure how their relationship can survive if Benny’s never willing to fly. She dreams of a life where they can hop on a plane and spend time together whenever they’re working apart – which is a lot.”

“But because of Blanco’s flying phobia,” the insider continued and concluded, “she now realizes she’ll have to go alone or take time off from her super busy schedule if she wants Benny to be with her.”

The mom of two, who welcomed her firstborn in 2021 and her second son in 2024, revealed that she and Fassbender, 48, have started to explain to the older son that they have to go to work. “Now with the 4-year-old we talk about it: ‘It’s time for Papa to go back and then I’ll be at home,’ ” she said.

“I love being a mom. I was terrified of what it is, going into it. I wasn’t really very maternal until I had my own children,” she said. “But maybe even more after the second one arrived, I started to feel like, OK, I know this a little bit now. I’m a bit kinder to myself too.”

In a conversation with The Sunday Times in 2022, the Oscar winner spoke about her journey to parenthood with Fassbender, revealing that she previously experienced an “extreme and painful” miscarriage.

“We have a child now, but it took us time,” she told the outlet.

“[The miscarriage] was so extreme, painful to go through and, of course, it made me recall making that film,” she told the Times of her role in The Light Between Oceans.

“Sometimes you go through things that are tough in life and if you have an office job you can step away for a bit. But there are times that myself or colleagues have been through something and, well, I can’t understand how they went on to the red carpet afterwards,” she added. “To be met by people asking, ‘How are you doing?’ Given what they had just been through? Most people would not be able to step out of their house.”

  • Guy Pearce To Play Rupert Murdoch In Danny Boyle’s ‘Ink’; Jack O’Donnell Also Set

Guy Pearce To Play Rupert Murdoch In Danny Boyle’s ‘Ink’; Jack O’Donnell Also Set

EXCLUSIVE: Danny Boyle has made a name for himself by taking powerful real-life stories and turning them into thrilling cinematic experiences, and the Oscar winner looks to have found that next riveting tale to adapt. Sources tell Deadline that Boyle is on board to direct Ink, a Studiocanal, Media Res and House Productions pic that revolves around the rise of the Rupert Murdoch empire. Insiders add that Oscar nominee Guy Pearce is in talks to play the media mogul and NewsCorp founder and Jack O’Connell is in negotiations to play Larry Lamb, who Murdoch hired to run The Sun when he purchased it in 1969.

An explosive cinematic rollercoaster about a group of visionaries and misfits who had an idea for a new kind of news – one that would give the people what they want and would change the face of the world we live in today. James Graham, who penned the original play, has adapted the screenplay with plans to shoot this October.

Based on the James Graham play, follows Murdoch’s struggling newspaper, The Sun, as he intends to make it a must-read news source and hires Lamb to run the paper. The purchase of the paper would start a long-standing rivalry between The Sun and The Mirror, leading to the rise of the British tabloids as we know them.

Danny Boyle produces with Tessa Ross and Michael Ellenberg. The film reunites Boyle and Ross following their collaboration on Slumdog Millionaire. Tracey Seaward also produces. Tonia Davis is an exec producer.

Deadline first reported Media Res optioning James Graham’s play of the same name directed by Rupert Goold in 2020.

Studiocanal is fully financing the film. Ron Halpern and Joe Naftalin will oversee for for the studio. Studiocanal will release in their territories of the UK, France, Germany, Poland. Benelux, Australia and NZ handling worldwide sales.

While Hollywood occasionally has had Murdoch appear in projects over the years, with the most recent example being Malcolm McDowell playing him in a cameo role in the 2019 pic Bombshell, there hasn’t been an instance where the industry has decided to dive into how he came to be one of the most influential figures in history of media. There are plenty of places Boyle could have pulled from to tell this tale, but given how important this moment was in the Murdoch origin story, Boyle chose to go with source material that was ready for him to adapt.

When it came to who would play his two main leads, Pearce and O’Connell were Boyle top choices for Murdoch and Lamb from the start. Pearce is coming off his critically acclaimed role in the A24 epic The Brutalist, which earned him an Oscar nomination. The Australia native had been weighing several offers but the chance to play one of his country’s most iconic figures ultimately was to hard to pass on.

With O’Connell, Lamb essentially is equally if not more important to telling this chapter of Murdoch’s story and needed to be played by someone that could match wits with Pearce. O’Connell has had a big year that started with his scene-stealing role as villainous vampire Remy in the box office smash Sinners, followed by the Sony horror hit 28 Years Later. Boyle directed the latter pic, which is where he got his first chance to see O’Connell up close. The filmmaker was so excited by his performance that he made his character a focal point in the next film, 28 Years Later: Bone Temple, which bows in January.

RELATED: Danny Boyle Says He Would Never Make Oscar-Winner ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ Now Amid “Cultural Appropriation” Concerns

Boyle is no stranger to taking on projects with larger-than-life figures at the center of the story, like his unconventional biopic Steve Jobs, which told the journey of the man who co-founded Apple and helped turn it into one of the world’s most powerful tech companies. With Murdoch’s global reach on so many fronts, Boyle looks to be aiming for the fences given the mogul’s impact on not just journalism but how the media landscape has been formed over the decades.

Boyle is repped by WME; Pearce is repped by CAA, Independent Talent Group and Shanahan Management; and O’Connell is repped by UTA, Range Media Partners and Conway van Gelder Grant. Graham is represented by Curtis Brown and WME.

China’s COL Group Unveils Micro-drama Distribution Hub Amid Short Format Boom

Chinese media conglomerate COL today announced the launch of its global content distribution division, seeking to become the world’s largest reseller of micro-dramas.

The company said that there will be over 1,000 titles available in both English and Chinese, and also offer broadcasters, streamers, telcos and digital platforms a library of serialised short-form content.

COL said that it is also exploring the future of content creation through AI-powered production pipelines, with the company already developing several AI-generated anime series. • Here’s What We Know About Prince William and Kate Middleton’s New Home, Forest Lodge

Here’s What We Know About Prince William and Kate Middleton’s New Home, Forest Lodge

The Prince and Princess of Wales are ready for a new beginning—or at least, a new home. Following a challenging 18 months in the wake of Princess Kate’s cancer treatment, the Royal Family will move later this year, a Palace spokesperson confirmed.

Prince William and his family have been living in the four bedroom Adelaide Cottage since fall of 2022, when they relocated from Kensington Palace. The Waleses reportedly moved to an unstaffed country home during school terms to give their three children, George (12), Charlotte (10), and Louis (7), a more conventional home life, according to CNN. Their home-to-be, Forest Lodge, is located only a short distance away from Adelaide cottage in Windsor Great Park. The BBC reports that the upcoming move will allow all three children to remain enrolled at Lambrook School, and continue to enjoy the private family life they’ve grown accustomed to outside of London.

The eight bedroom Georgian-style Forest Lodge property (originally named “Holly Grove”) was built in the 1770s, and came into the possession of the Crown Estate in 1829, per Town & Country. It went on the market following a £1.5 million renovation in 2001—which brought about our most recent peeks at the ornate cornices and plasterwork, original stonework, and one half-barrel vaulted ceiling inside. This summer, permissions were granted by the Royal Borough of Windsor for “minor internal and external alterations” (including a window removal and fireplace adaptations), per the BBC.

While ELLE Decor previously reported on the interior features that made the ‘modest’ Adelaide Cottage worthy of its Royal inhabitants (see historic “gilded dolphins and rope ornament” in the primary bedroom, a Greco-Egyptian marble fireplace, and more), the much larger Forest Lodge offers more opportunity for elaborate furnishings and storied decor. Given past privacy issues, we’re not counting on any insider looks at the estate once the Waleses settle in. But to fuel our design fantasies, we do know that it includes a ballroom, a tennis court, six chimneys, and eight bay windows.

Given the tumultuous nature of the last several years for the young Royal Family— including the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, the coronation of King Charles III, and both Charles and Kate navigating cancer diagnoses in 2024—it makes perfect sense that they’re seeking a “forever home” to fill with new memories and mark their next chapter. Sources tell the BBC that the family plans to raise their children to adulthood at Forest Lodge, and that the estate’s already rich history will likely be marked by a new Royal milestone: It will be where William and Kate will eventually become (and potentially live as) King and Queen.

William and Kate will be funding the move and renovations to Forest Lodge privately, BBC notes. The family is expected to move in by the end of 2025.

  • Aubrey Plaza talks about her husband’s suicide: ‘A daily struggle, obviously’ | Aubrey Plaza

Aubrey Plaza talks about her husband’s suicide: ‘A daily struggle, obviously’ | Aubrey Plaza

The actor Aubrey Plaza has opened up about the suicide of her husband, director Jeff Baena, who died in January.

The White Lotus and Parks and Recreation star was speaking to Amy Poehler for her podcast Good Hang when she was asked how she was doing during “a terrible, terrible, tragic year”.

“Right in this very, very present moment, I feel happy to be with you,” Plaza said. “Overall, I’m here and I’m functioning. I feel really grateful to be moving through the world. I think I’m OK, but it’s like a daily struggle, obviously.”

Baena, who directed Plaza in the comedies Life After Beth and The Little Hours, killed himself at the age of 47 at his Los Angeles home. At the time, a joint statement from Plaza and his family called it “an unimaginable tragedy”.

In her interview with Poehler, Plaza used the Apple sci-fi horror The Gorge as a “really dumb analogy” to describe the aftermath.

“It’s like an alien movie with Miles Teller,” she said. “In the movie, there’s a cliff on one side and a cliff on the other side and there’s a gorge in between and it’s filled with all these monster people that are trying to get them. I swear when I watched it, I was like, ‘That what this feels like, what my grief is like – or what grief could be like.’ At all times there’s like a giant ocean of awfulness that’s like right there, and I can see it. And sometimes, I just want to dive into it and be in it. And then sometimes, I just look at it. And then sometimes, I’m just trying to get away from it. But it’s always there. It’s just always there. And the monster people are trying to get me like Miles Teller.”

The pair met in 2011 and married in 2021.

In an obituary for the Guardian, Ryan Gilbey praised Baena’s “enjoyably twisted” movies. Baena also co-wrote I Heart Huckabees with David O Russell, and his final film was the dark comedy Spin Me Round, starring Plaza and Alison Brie.

Plaza’s film roles also include Ingrid Goes West and Emily the Criminal, and she can next be seen in Ethan Coen’s comedy Honey Don’t.

  • ‘Palm Royale’ Season 2 Release Date, Photos of Kristen Wiig, Laura Dern

‘Palm Royale’ Season 2 Release Date, Photos of Kristen Wiig, Laura Dern

Palm Beach’s most exclusive club is reopening its doors, as Palm Royale sets a date for its season two return.

The Kristen Wiig– and Laura Dern-starring Apple series returns Wednesday, Nov. 12 with the first of a 10-episode second season, followed by one episode weekly until the Jan. 14, 2026, finale.

The announcement comes with first-look photos of the ensemble cast (updating, below), which includes Allison Janney, Ricky Martin, Carol Burnett, Josh Lucas, Leslie Bibb, Amber Chardae Robinson, Mindy Cohn, Julia Duffy and Kaia Gerber.

Palm Royale is described as “a true underdog story that follows Maxine Dellacorte (Wiig) as she endeavors to find her footing in the cut throat world of Palm Beach high society. As Maxine attempts to cross that impermeable line between the haves and the have-nots, Palm Royale asks the same question that still baffles us today: ‘How much of yourself are you willing to sacrifice to get what someone else has?’ Palm Royale is a testament to every outsider fighting for their chance to truly belong.”

In season two, Maxine is left a social pariah after a scandalous public breakdown in the jaw-dropping season one finale. Here’s the logline: “She’ll have to draw on her deep well of cleverness and cunning to prove once and for all, that not only does she belong, but she just might have what it takes to rule this town. Along the way she will uncover untold truths and finally understand what this town is truly built on — secrets, lies and the occasional felony.”

Creator Abe Sylvia previously told The Hollywood Reporter that season two would be even “bigger” than season one. “The audience should expect the unexpected. I think they should expect us to double down on all the things that we did in season one, and go bigger,” he said. “I wanted to create a situation where the audience gasped at the end, and we have to know what happens next. … We certainly had very strong ideas of what happens next when we wrote the finale of Palm Royale.”

Apple Studios’ Palm Royale is written, executive produced and showrun by Sylvia for Aunt Sylvia’s Moving Picture Company. The series is executive produced by Dern and Jayme Lemons for Jaywalker Pictures, Wiig and Katie O’Connell Marsh.
