Jessie J Hospitalized With Infection After Surgery for Breast Cancer

Jessie J spent the night in the hospital due to an infection, less than two months after she underwent surgery following her breast cancer diagnosis.

The singer shared several posts on her Instagram story detailing the events, writing one message over a photo of an IV in her arm.

“How I spent the last 24 hours,” she wrote. “6 weeks post surgery and I was back in the same ward I was after my surgery. Not expected or planned. I had and still have symptoms that pointed towards a blood clot on the lung.”

Jessie J clarified that she didn’t end up having a blood clot. The singer said that tests showed she had fluid on her lungs and an infection, though doctors were “still trying to figure out what.”

“Finding it hard to breathe in, but I discharged myself last night (I hate being in hospital) and will continue the investigation as an outpatient,” she continued.

The singer has been candid about her health journey since announcing her cancer diagnosis in June.Jessie J / Instagram

Jessie J continued her message in another story, writing, “I know many people who will have gone through this or similar agree with me on this or not and that’s okay.”

The singer noted, “But I know for me, the true hard journey of this whole thing physically was the day I went into surgery.”

“The recovery physically is far from quick or easy, and mentally it’s been the most challenging time for me,” she added. “Especially as a Mum with a toddler and being unable to be the mother I usually am. And having to change the plans for my career for this year has been frustrating after working so hard to get to this point and excited to do it all.”

The singer and her boyfriend, Chanan Safir Colman, welcomed their son Sky Safir Cornish Colman in May 2023. Later this year in November, the singer will be hitting the road across the United States and Canada on her “No Secrets Tour.”

In one final story, the singer said she took this as “a reminder to myself to slow tf down.”

“This isn’t a speedy recovery. And it isn’t meant to be,” she said. “As an adhd Aries fire breathing dragon t rex, I can do it myself, I’m always ok woman. That slow pace has been a hard reality to accept tbh. I love moving and working and being up and active but I can’t be right now, and that’s what it is.”

Jessie J said, “And I am finding the strength in knowing that all can be adjusted to align with a slower pace and the support of my very small inner support circle.”

Jessie J announced her breast cancer diagnosis back in June.

“Cancer sucks in any form, but I’m holding on to the word early,” she noted in her video message, before explaining that she had been “in and out of tests.”

At the time, she also revealed that she would be undergoing surgery after she performed at Summertime Ball in London on June 15.

The singer said she decided to make the announcement publicly because she “wanted to be open and share it.”

“One, because selfishly, I do not talk about it enough,” she noted. “I’m not processing it because I’m working so hard. I also know how much sharing in the past has helped me with other people giving me their love and support and also their own stories.”

The singer shared an update post-surgery on June 23 with a series of photos documenting the process. In the caption, she said the post contained “some of the honest lows and highs of the last 48 hours.”

“I will always show the good and hard bits of any journey I go through,” she wrote. “Grateful to my doctor / surgeon and all the nurses who cared for me and all my family / friends who came to visit. I am home now, to rest and wait for my results.”

The signer concluded her message on an uplifting note, adding, “Still hugging everyone going through something tough right now. We all got this!”

As many royal fans know, Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales, better known as Kate Middleton, went on a secret boat trip around Greece, and to this day, many are still wondering what it was for. But now, inside sources claim their eldest son, Prince George, was also on board, and that a dietary issue actually made them pause the trip.

Sources told DailyMail that as they left Kefalonia and were heading south in the Ionian Sea towards another island, Zakynthos; George wanted something off-menu that required them to briefly stop the voyage.

    More from SheKnows

“George required a specific dietary item which led to the tender going ashore in Zakynthos to purchase it. Nothing extravagant, just something particular,” they said, not revealing the exact details of what it was.

Per Daily Meal, the royal kids have a lot of rules for their diet, and it’s mostly kept hush-hush; but here’s what we know: Spaghetti carbonara is his favorite meal, he has cereal for breakfast, loves Shepherd’s Pie, and snacks on brownies. • 26 Vintage Photos of a Young Martha Stewart Before She Was a Lifestyle Icon

26 Vintage Photos of a Young Martha Stewart Before She Was a Lifestyle Icon

Before her name became a byword for “good taste,” Martha Stewart was born Martha Kostyra, the oldest daughter of six children in a well-to-do Polish Catholic family. Raised in Nutley, New Jersey, she displayed an entrepreneurial knack from an early age: A 10-year old Martha booked her first paid gig by planning birthday parties for the kids in her neighborhood. She began modeling as a teenager, earning $50 an hour to appear in ad campaigns for the likes of Chanel and Tareyton cigarettes. With her 5’9” frame and knockout beauty, Stewart’s modeling portfolio radiates the same mix of cold charm and playful sensuality that would later define her entire brand.

But it would take some time before Stewart became known, as David Letterman once referred to her, as the “James Brown of home entertaining.” Stewart modeled into her early twenties, mostly as a way to supplement her scholarship money at Barnard College. After graduating with a degree in architectural history, she married Yale Law student Andy Stewart, had a daughter, Alexis, in 1965, and worked on Wall Street as the only female stockbroker at her firm. “The job taught me so much about what it takes to build a real business, a real company—a meaningful and useful enterprise,” Stewart later recalled. “Yet it was not until I left Wall Street that I discovered my true entrepreneurial bent. I loved ideas. I loved building. I loved creating….and I loved making money as a result.”

  • ‘Jurassic World Rebirth,’ ‘F1’ Hit Box Office Milestone

‘Jurassic World Rebirth,’ ‘F1’ Hit Box Office Milestone

“Jurassic World Rebirth” keeps roaring at the box office with ticket sales clearing the $750 million milestone over the weekend.

Universal’s dinosaur tentpole, which rebooted the prehistoric series with Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey and Mahershala Ali at the helm, has grossed $766 million globally after five weekends of release. It’s one of three Hollywood films this year — Disney’s “Lilo & Stitch” ($1 billion) and Warner Bros. “A Minecraft Movie” ($955 million) are the other two — to clear the $750 million mark so far. International audiences have been particularly enthusiastic, with overseas revenues contributing a massive $448 million to the total bounty. The United Kingdom and Ireland ($42 million), Mexico ($34 million) and Germany ($28 million) rank as the top-earning territories. Those are mighty returns, however, the latest “Jurassic” has to keep climbing to near the heights of the prior sequel trilogy led by Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, each of which grossed $1 billion globally.

“F1” is also staying strong at the box office, surpassing $545 million globally in its sixth lap around the track. With those ticket sales, the racing drama now stands as Brad Pitt’s highest-grossing film in history, overtaking the haul of 2013’s “World War Z” ($540 million, not adjusted for inflation). “F1” had long ago overtaken Martin Scorsese’s “Killers of the Flower Moon” ($158 million worldwide) and Ridley Scott’s “Napoleon” ($221 million) as Apple’s largest theatrical film ever.

“Superman” also crossed a notable milestone with $550 million globally, a haul that includes $235 million overseas and $316 million domestically after four weekends. Though it’s been the first commercially successful DC film in ages, the comic book tentpole has been underperforming at the international box office. “Superman,” a patriotic adventure about a very American protagonist, has been more popular in the U.S. and Canada, which has accounted for nearly 60% of overall returns. (It’s usually the inverse for all-audience blockbusters.) So far, the biggest markets abroad have been the U.K. with $32 million, Mexico with $21.8 million and Brazil with $15 million.

Meanwhile, Disney and Marvel’s “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” remained atop international charts with $39.6 million from 52 territories in its second weekend of release, declining 58% from its debut. So far, the superhero adaptation has grossed $368.7 million worldwide, including $170.3 million internationally and $198.4 million in North America.

In terms of newcomers, Universal and DreamWorks Animation’s heist comedy “The Bad Guys 2” landed with $16.3 million from 58 territories. Those ticket sales are slightly ahead of 2022’s “The Bad Guys” in terms of like-for-like markets. Domestically, the sequel debuted to $22.8 million for a global start of $44.5 million. Sam Rockwell, Marc Maron, Craig Robinson lead the voice cast of “The Bad Guys 2,” which carries an $80 million price tag and follows the newly reformed baddies as they emerge from retirement to perform one last heist.

Another new release, Paramount’s “The Naked Gun” reboot, collected $11.5 million from 46 markets in its opening weekend. The film, starring Liam Neeson as a bumbling police detective and Pamela Anderson as his unlikely accomplice, opened to $17 million in North America, bringing its worldwide tally to $28.5 million.

Rod Stewart Criticized for Bizarre Ozzy Osbourne AI Tribute Video

During “Forever Young” performance, Black Sabbath singer shown taking selfies in heaven with Kurt Cobain, Freddie Mercury and, umm, XXXtentacion

What was meant to be Rod Stewart’s in-concert tribute to Ozzy Osbourne has instead been met with criticism and ridicule after video of the tribute — featuring AI images of Osbourne and other gone-too-soon artists — emerged on social media.

During Stewart’s last handful of concerts since Osbourne’s July 22 death, he has dedicated his song “Forever Young” to the Black Sabbath singer. However, what originally started as a normal tribute — with a simple image of Osbourne shown on the video screens — recently took a bizarre turn when “Forever Young” was accompanied by the AI Osbourne — in heaven with a selfie stick in hand — taking photos of himself with the likes of Freddie Mercury, Kurt Cobain, and Amy Winehouse.

In addition to the selfies with Prince, Bob Marley, Tupac Shakur, and Whitney Houston, the perpetrator of the insensitive AI video also strangely decided to have Osbourne take photos with controversial artists like Michael Jackson and XXXtentacion.

To add insult to the visual injury, Stewart told the Charlotte, North Carolina crowd following the “Forever Young” performance, “Very sad. A lot of those people died ’cause of drugs… I’m still here, though!,” the Charlotte Observer noted in their review of Stewart’s July 29 show.

Following news of Osbourne’s death, Stewart wrote on Instagram, “Bye, bye Ozzy. Sleep well, my friend. I’ll see you up there — later rather than sooner.”

  • Air Jordan 4 RM ‘Gamma Blue’ Glow in the Dark FQ7939-040 Release Date

Air Jordan 4 RM ‘Gamma Blue’ Glow in the Dark FQ7939-040 Release Date

Ever since it arrived with some help from Nigel Sylvester’s storytelling, the retooled version of Michael Jordan’s fourth signature sneaker, the Air Jordan 4 RM, has been released in several familiar colorways ranging from a black-and-yellow “Bruce Lee” look to a more affordable spin on the Nike SB Pine Green collaboration. Soon, the sneaker will adopt another familiar Jordan Brand theme as it takes on a Gamma Blue-accented colorway with a hidden feature.

The Air Jordan 4 RM will soon be released in Black/Gamma Blue with a unique detail across its signature flexible support cage and portions of the rubber outsole. In the dark, the neon blue shade glows a luminescent green, a first for the so-called “restomod” (or “remastered”) version of the Air Jordan 4. Beyond the glowy details, the rest of the style is built with a black ballistic mesh featuring charcoal suede overlays.

While glow-in-the-dark athletic footwear was commonplace in the 2010s, the frequency of releases has tapered off. For the Air Jordan 4 model in particular, the phosphorescent treatment was featured on 2017’s coveted collaboration with artist Kaws.

As for the Gamma Blue shade, it has most notably been featured on the Air Jordan 11 Retro, a style which is set for its first-ever reissue in December. Although the Air Jordan 11 Gamma Blue does not feature glow-in-the-dark details, it uses the same blue shade throughout its design.

The Air Jordan 4 RM was introduced in July 2024 through Sylvester’s aforementioned “Grandma’s Driveway” collaboration. The shoe is inspired by the original Air Jordan 4 but features numerous changes including a lower ankle cut, different materials and the addition of a support cage replacing the model’s usual wings and mesh netting. With added durability making it equipped for biking, the Air Jordan 4 RM’s product description bills it as an everyday shoe for “life on the go.”

There is currently no confirmed launch date for this glow-in-the-dark Air Jordan 4 RM Gamma Blue, but it’s expected to be released this fall for a retail price of $155. The pair’s style code is FQ7939-040.

Sarah Michelle Gellar Teases Training for ‘Buffy’ Reboot

Sarah Michelle Gellar is preparing to slay a new generation of supernatural evil creatures.

The actress, who led the original Buffy the Vampire Slayer series for seven seasons from 1997 to 2003, recently took to her Instagram to share a video of her training at the gym alongside her new co-star, Ryan Kiera Armstrong, in the forthcoming reboot.

“Warrior 1 and 2 We don’t sweat … we sparkle,” Gellar captioned the video (below), which sees them both doing various workouts while sharing a few laughs.

It was previously announced that Armstrong had been cast to lead the new Hulu series as a new young Slayer. Gellar, who is also executive producing the series, is set to reprise her role as Buffy Summers.

Seeing Armstrong and Gellar’s playful dynamic even while training came as no surprise, as the veteran actress previously praised Armstrong’s casting: “From the moment I saw Ryan’s audition, I knew there was only one girl that I wanted by my side. To have that kind of emotional intelligence, and talent, at such a young age is truly gift. The bonus is that her smile lights up even the darkest room.”

Though most plot details surrounding the reboot have been kept under wraps, the I Know What You Did Last Summer star teased in June that she hopes some actors from the original show return for the Buffy reboot.

“It will be lighter than the last few seasons of the original,” Gellar told Vanity Fair Italia at the time. “We will try to find a balance between new and old characters. My dream is to bring back everyone who has died, but space will have to be made for new stories as well.”

A premiere date for the new show has yet to be revealed.

  • Corey Mylchreest Talks Jamie’s Journey in ‘My Oxford Year’

Corey Mylchreest Talks Jamie’s Journey in ‘My Oxford Year’

[This story contains spoilers for Netflix’s My Oxford Year.]

When portraying King George in Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, Corey Mylchreest left audiences in love and heartbroken after his character’s emotional arc. Now the actor is set to once again make the audience swoon and possibly cry in Netflix’s My Oxford Year.

In the film, directed by Iain Morris and based on Julia Wheelan’s 2018 novel of the same name, Mylchreest stars as Jamie, an Oxford professor who falls in love with American student Anna (played by Sofia Carson). What begins as a fun fling evolves as the two grow a strong bond built on poetry and literature, before profoundly altering each other’s lives and subverting each other’s expectations. However, Jamie reveals that he has been secretly battling cancer, the same illness that he lost his brother from, and has made the decision to no longer continue treatment much to his father’s protests.

The choice was one that was complicated for Mylchreest. “I don’t know what I would do. I really tried to meditate on that for a very long time, but it takes you to quite a dark place. It’s so complicated, but I support him in his decision,” the actor tells The Hollywood Reporter.

“If you’ve watched your brother want to let their life end, and undergoes this treatment that really just prolongs and worsens the pain, I think if you’ve seen that for long enough… think you’re one step further to accepting your fate than you would be if you hadn’t,” he adds.

In Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, Mylchreest’s King George was depicted with a mental illness. Though the series never explicitly stated a diagnosis, it was referred to as “madness.” Now having portrayed another character struggling with an illness Mylchreest reflects, “No one is their illness. It’s not a characteristic, it’s a circumstance.” Of portraying two roles in which his characters endure illnesses Mylchreest says, “We know that it isn’t who they are and you just have to do the same work that you would do anywhere else, which is just figure out who your man is and then do as much research as possible about the illness or whatever there is… Just do as much research as possible about what it is, and then try and work out how the person that you are beginning to know and understand, how they would react to that.”

In a conversation with THR, Mylchreest reflects on filming at Oxford, Jamie’s complicated relationship with his father, that Coldplay karaoke scene and what he envisions could’ve been for his character.

What was it about this story that interested you and made you want to be a part of bringing it to life?

I guess it’s the character of Jamie. He’s so multifaceted. He’s so three-dimensional. [There are] lots of conflicting things within him, lots of amazing relationships in that film [including] with his parents, with his brother, with the wonderful Anna, yeah, there was just so much to do. And it’s such a lovely story as well. Obviously working with Sofia [Carson] was a big pull, as was working with Iain.

How familiar were you already with Oxford?

I know bits of Oxford, and I’ve been up and down before to there. It’s such a gorgeous city. It’s full of history, and the architecture is really lovely and it’s really beautiful. It’s this really lovely dichotomy between the fact that all of these buildings are so old and they’ve been there for so long, but they’ve always been for young people. There’s always been this vibrant, youthful energy and purpose to Oxford that is contained within these ancient buildings which is so, so lovely. It was so lovely to film it there as well, because it feels like a big part of the film is the city itself and also the college. It was such a great thing that we got to do it there. We filmed a lot at Magdalen college and on the streets of Oxford.

Anna and Jamie form a connection through their love of literature and poetry. Can you talk about poetry and literature being this foundation for them and how it helped them see each other in a way that others wouldn’t?

I guess in Jamie and Anna, you have two characters who are sort of restricted from their truth, dreams, desires and emotions through things around them. Jamie’s family are very old English and England has a culture of suppression of whatever you’re truly feeling. But Jamie is so full of feeling and love and everything under the sun and obviously loves poetry to pieces. But it is through his poetry that he’s able to further understand himself and the world and express himself as well. The amount of times that he quotes something to get his point across, because it’s almost safer in a way to use someone else’s words, but also, when the words are so eloquent and fully encapsulating, why would you choose your own? And the same goes for Anna. Poetry is something that has been so dear to her from such a young age. She is on track to a very different life that has been almost planned for her, and it is poetry that connects her to herself, her own dreams [and] her own feelings in a much deeper way. And so you have these two characters that have their own very important and vital to their existence and experience of the world, their relationship to poetry. As with many things, when you share such a devout appreciation of something, when you find someone else who has the same thing, is a very powerful connecting, catalyst type thing.

“I think that both of them are aware of how much the other has what they need, or that the other could help them bring out in themselves what they need.”

    Chris Baker/Netflix

With Jamie and Anna’s dynamic, Jamie wants things between them to be kept fun given the secret he’s keeping but it seems like it took somebody like Anna to challenge Jamie into thinking that maybe there is a person who could understand who he really is and the challenges he’s living through. And also maybe vice versa with how Jamie helps Anna. Can you talk about the progression of their relationship?

What they begin with is a common love and also they are attracted to each other. But also we are deeper understanders of our experience than we are conscious of and I think that both of them are aware of how much the other has what they need, or [that] the other could help them bring out in themselves what they need and, of course, that is what happens. I also think that in a way, the film is a love letter to cross-Atlantic relations, because there is British-isms that Anna takes on but I think specifically, Jamie is in need of a very American outward. Anna is very much “just do it and say it” whereas Jamie isn’t that. If Anna was exactly who she was, but British, they would have broken up because they wouldn’t have fought for it. There is also their cultural differences that play into the evolution of their relationship.

One notable fun scene in the film was the karaoke scene. Did you have a say in the song that Jamie would sing or were you just up for anything and ready to see how it went?

I was up for anything, but it [the song] was decided beforehand. We actually filmed two versions of that. We filmed it with “Yellow” and we also filmed it with “Careless Whisper” because we didn’t know what we would get the rights to. We also filmed two versions of each one with him [the character Jamie] sort of genuinely trying in the beginning [and] trying to do it sort of sincerely, then failing, then going to joke. And then we also did one where he’s taken out the whole thing from the beginning. That scene is a very painful one for me to watch. There was a cast and crew screening that I went to yesterday, and I had a hat on, and I pulled my hat down, my T-shirt up, and I literally blocked out my ears. I just can’t do it.

Did you feel there were other takes that were better then the one in the film?

I understand why they chosen that. Because also at that point Jamie — not that there is an upper hand — but has had the upper hand over Anna. He splashed her. I mean, she did get him back in the chip shop but then he also has a whole lecture [and] there is a bit of a power dynamic. I think it was important that in that moment, she gets the upper hand on him, and he doesn’t take charge of it. He’s in the palm of her hand in that moment. And so I see why they’ve done it. But God it was so bad. It was also awful doing it.

“I think he’s so dead set on he’s not going to leave the world having had a worse impact, having caused pain.”

    Courtesy of Netflix

When we finally learn of Jamie’s secret, he shares his reasoning for not wanting to continue treatment for his cancer. He’s very set on his choice and doesn’t stray from his decision even after finding love with Anna. Can you talk about his decision and unwillingness to waver? Did you agree with it?

It’s so complex, isn’t it? It really is, and there’s so many things at play, I think. I mean, I don’t know. I haven’t experienced the closeness of the loss that Jamie had. His brother obviously had the exact same thing and there are some lines that reference it, but in my head it’s always good to come up with a backstory and have a detailed imagined reality of what that is. If you’ve watched your brother want to let their life end, and undergoes this treatment that really just prolongs and worsens the pain, I think if you’ve seen that for long enough, and there’s degradation of their body, the emotional pain, the physical pain that they’ve gone through, I think you’re one step further to accepting your fate than you would be if you hadn’t. And also Cecilia (played by Poppy Gilbert) was (Jamie’s brother) Eddie’s partner and he’s seen the loss and the effects with Cecilia. For all of his cynicism, he is a deeply caring man, and it’s very little agency that a situation like that gives you, and one of the things that you are able to control is what you leave, the effect on people that you have during those last months. I think he’s so dead set on he’s not going to leave the world having had a worse impact, having caused pain. For someone who is so optimistic and wonderful, and also for himself, he just doesn’t want to go through the awfulness of what he’s witnessed. I do agree. I don’t know what I would do. I really tried to meditate on that for a very long time, but it takes you to quite a dark place. It’s so complicated, but I support him in his decision.

Speaking of complicated, we learn about Jamie’s strained relationship with his father. His father wants him to keep fighting but Jamie is ready to let nature takes its course and no longer continue treatment. And when you learn their perspectives, there doesn’t seem to be a definitive right or wrong perspective because we know why they feel the way they feel. How did you interpret their dynamic? Can you talk about the progression of their relationship?

I mean, you’re so right. They are both right and ultimately, it’s so funny, isn’t it, because although it will be one person that is suffering or that is diagnosed, it is everyone within their vicinity that is suffering and affected. And in a way, one person is suffering if they are the one that’s been diagnosed, [but] at least has an end date, whereas you don’t get that if you are a loved one. It’s just so complicated and I think one of the things that is best about the film is it really asks that question, and it doesn’t try to answer it. It just tries to give as much of both sides as possible, which I think is wonderful. I’m very proud of the film. We have a story of quintessential British boys who just don’t talk and need toys often. That’s football. I think one of the amazing things about football is that it connects and allows an outlet of hopefully positive emotion that otherwise wouldn’t be expressed, because of so much toxic masculinity, effectively. And also [in] the British culture, everyone is suppressed. For them it’s toy cars. It’s a wonderful dynamic and, and we do see it evolve. At the end, they do thankfully reach an understanding and they just need to remember that they love each other, really. And that’s the cause for everything.

At the end of the film, we don’t necessarily see Jamie pass away but rather get a snapshot of what could’ve been with him and Anna traveling. What did you make of the ending? Had Jamie not been sick, what did you envision for what could’ve been for him and for him and Anna?

[I] love the ending. I think by the time that we started the shoot, that still wasn’t planned. I think they put that in, and I think it’s a wonderful idea, and I think they’ve done it very well. And also, what a pleasure to do that. We just went to all these gorgeous places. So that was an absolute joy. And it was right at the end of the shoot as well, so that the last day we were in Athens.

I think if he hadn’t had his illness, then I think without a doubt he would have stayed at Oxford. He would have become a professor and a lecturer, and very happily done that for a very long time. There’s no way that he would have left. And I see the same for Anna. I think they could have had a very happy life there. And hopefully Anna still will.

“I think they could have had a very happy life there.”

What do you ultimately hope that people take away from this film and what did you take away from it and this character?

What a question. I mean, I took away so many things. I think that’s one of the joys of doing this ridiculous job. You’re being paid to research and develop a really in-depth understanding of what other people are like, and why they are the way that they are, and there’s so many things that I’m grateful for about playing Jamie. I think the main thing that I’ve taken away is the thing that I want everyone to take away, which is that life is so much more nourishing. It’s shorter than we think. Not that I’m saying that as a wise old man, it just is and it is best enjoyed in the now. I think the balance in between Anna’s philosophy on life and Jamie’s philosophy on life is the perfect thing, but planning is something that Matthew McConaughey says, which is “conservative early and liberal late” which is just like, do your planning and then you can be free. Do your work, and then you can relax. I think Anna really plans, and Jamie is very much just go with it. I think somewhere in the middle is the sweet spot, and as long as you’re present, then you’re okay.

Fantastic Four Steps To $369M; F1 Brad Pitt’s Biggest Movie Ever Global

Refresh for latest…: There were a lot of moving parts at the global and international box office this weekend which was led for the studios by the sophomore frame of Marvel/Disney’s The Fantastic Four: First Steps

Amid a 54% dip from opening (-52% excluding China), the second overseas session added $39.6M for a running offshore cume of $170.3M and $368.7M worldwide. While domestic and international were essentially at parity in their weekend hauls, domestic is dominating the global total at 54%. As noted last weekend, the split is usually in the other direction, but Asia is a drag here.

One Asian major that has been depressed for some time is seeing some specific bounce. Korea has a strong local title in the mix, but is also having a love affair with Brad Pitt-starrer F1. The Apple Original Films racing pic, via Warner Bros, continues to have mega-strong holds — increasing an incredible 36% in the 6th frame in the market.

In total, the Joseph Kosinski-directed racing pic added $17.2M from 78 offshore markets this session (a 17% dip overall overseas versus last) to lift the overseas cume to $372.3M. Global is now $545.6M which makes F1 Brad Pitt’s highest-grossing movie ever worldwide, surpassing World War Z.

We will get into more detail on the above, but here’s a quick snapshot of the other major titles in play.

New this frame, and flying the flag for comedies, Paramount’s The Naked Gun debuted to $11.5M from 46 early opening markets. This is 44% above Game Night and 36% over The Heat. The launch reps 73% of the international footprint, with 15 markets still to go including France, Brazil Australia and Spain.

The Top 5 launches were the UK ($2.3M), Germany ($2.3M), Mexico ($674K), Netherlands ($590K) and Austria ($430K).

Universal/DreamWorks Animation’s The Bad Guys 2, after debuting in just three overseas markets last weekend, expanded to 58 in this session. The frame was good for $16.3M which lifts the early overseas cume to $22.3M, and with domestic’s bow, the running global total is $44.5M

Note that major markets still to come include Brazil, China, Italy, Germany and Australia, as well as parts of Latin America and Asia.

Universal/Amblin’s Jurassic World Rebirth, meanwhile, devoured another $16.2M in the 5th overseas frame; 35% off last weekend. That takes the offshore cume to $448.4M and global to $766M.

Warner/DC’s Superman, for its part, added $11.2M from 78 offshore markets for an overseas cume of $235M and $551.2M global.

Orlando Bloom Reacts to Joke About Katy Perry–Justin Trudeau Romance

Orlando Bloom is taking things in stride amid rumors that his ex Katy Perry has moved on with former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

On Friday (Aug. 1), satirical news site The Onion shared a fictional article on Instagram with the headline, “Orlando Bloom Spotted at Dinner With Angela Merkel.” The post featured what appeared to be an AI-generated image of the 48-year-old English actor enjoying a candlelit dinner with former German Chancellor Angela Merkel, 71.

“Just weeks after announcing his split with fiancée Katy Perry, English actor Orlando Bloom was photographed Friday dining with former German Chancellor Angela Merkel,” The Onion‘s mock report read. “’Angela kept Orlando laughing all night — he couldn’t keep his eyes off her!’said an insider source who spotted the pair sipping wine, slurping oysters, and splitting a decadent piece of chocolate layer cake at a Michelin-starred restaurant.”

Bloom took the joke in good humor, responding in the comments with several clapping emojis.

The spoof came shortly after Perry, 40, and Trudeau, 53, were spotted together on multiple occasions in late July, including dining out in Montreal and walking a dog through Mount Royal Park. Trudeau was also seen enthusiastically singing along to Perry’s hit “Firework” during her Lifetimes Tour stop at Montreal’s Bell Centre.

The sightings have sparked speculation about a possible romance, especially following confirmation that Perry and Bloom have ended their relationship after nine years. The couple, who share a daughter, Daisy Dove, have pledged to remain focused on co-parenting.

“Orlando and Katy have been shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on co-parenting,” the pair’s reps told Billboard in early July, shortly after which the exes appeared together in a photo from a family vacation with their children. “They will continue to be seen together as a family, as their shared priority is — and always will be — raising their daughter with love, stability and mutual respect.”

Trudeau also went through a public breakup in August 2023, splitting from estranged wife Sophie Gregoire, with whom he has three kids.
