Alyssa Milano’s plea to ‘Charmed’ fans: Stop using AI to mourn Julian McMahon

LOS ANGELES, July 9 — Actress Alyssa Milano has asked fans of her hit TV show Charmed to be more mindful on how they grieve her recently deceased co-star Julian McMahon.

In an Instagram story, the actress wrote:

Charmed fans/accounts! | love and appreciate you so much but please stop using Al to fabricate emotion from Julian McMahan’s death. It is totally unessessary (sic) when there are real moments you can use from his nearly 35 years in the public eye. And please be considerate to Julian’s grieving family and friends during this difficult time.”

This is likely due to some fans creating fake videos with McMahon’s likenesses, some including another deceased Charmed cast member Shannen Doherty.

McMahon passed away after a private cancer battle on July 4 at 56 and had a long, successful career in TV but recently was seen in 2024’s The Surfer with Nicolas Cage.

  • Pusha T downplays Kendrick Lamar in new interview

Pusha T downplays Kendrick Lamar in new interview

Rapper Pusha T has made waves with recent comments in an interview with Elliott Wilson, downplaying Kendrick Lamar’s legacy and admitting that Drake “washes” both him and Kendrick.

During the conversation, Pusha T claimed he couldn’t recall Kendrick’s lyrics, suggesting that Kendrick’s influence may be overrated.

“If I had to compete? Drake washes us both,” Pusha T stated, acknowledging Drake’s commercial dominance and ubiquitous chart presence. He emphasized Drake’s consistency: “He’s been running the game for a decade—can’t knock that.”

Pusha T also revealed his perspective on Kendrick’s artistic impact: “I really couldn’t even start Kendrick’s verse,” he confessed. “If I asked how it started, I wouldn’t know.” This echoes a moment from Drake’s 2013 Elliott Wilson sit-down, where Drake claimed Kendrick’s “Control” verse was unforgettable… yet no one could recall how it began.

By contrast, Pusha praised Drake’s ability to deliver hits and maintain presence. “He knows the game—what to drop, when to drop,” Pusha remarked, noting Drake’s strategic consistency over flash.

Fans online immediately responded, sparking debate across Twitter and hip‑hop forums about who truly leads the rap hierarchy: lyricism or longevity. Many called Pusha’s comments “honest,” while others fiercely defended Kendrick’s cultural importance.

The full interview with Elliott Wilson is available on X (formerly Twitter) and YouTube, drawing significant attention from the hip‑hop community. Whether fans agree or disagree, Pusha T’s blunt take on the ongoing Drake–Kendrick legacy conversation is igniting fresh discussion in rap’s evolving landscape.

Brooklyn Beckham triggers more family drama as he ditches sister’s big day

Brooklyn Beckham was recently seen enjoying a sunny holiday with his in-laws while his younger sister Harper’s birthday quietly approached back home.

Brooklyn, 26, and Nicola, 30, jetted off to Saint-Tropez for a sunny break with her family, where they were seen shopping together and looking completely smitten.

The couple also spent time relaxing on a yacht during the trip, joined by Nicola’s parents Nelson and Claudia, along with her brothers Will and Zach.

Nicola Peltz gave a glimpse of the trip on Instagram, calling it her “fam fam” as she shared clips of her and Brooklyn spending time with her family.

Brooklyn’s getaway with his in-laws came just as buzz grew about him feeling distant from his own family. For months, people have been talking about a possible rift with his parents, David and Victoria Beckham.

Now, with Harper’s 14th birthday coming up on Thursday, some reports say he might not show up, just like he missed his dad’s 50th earlier this year.

A source told The Mirror that while Brooklyn still loves Harper a lot, things haven’t exactly been patched up at home.

  • Olivia Rodrigo funds free therapy for tour crew, setting new standard in music industry mental health

Olivia Rodrigo funds free therapy for tour crew, setting new standard in music industry mental health

In a groundbreaking move for the music industry, Olivia Rodrigo has provided free therapy sessions for her entire crew during her 102-show Guts World Tour.

The 22-year-old pop star’s decision marks a significant step toward addressing mental health challenges that are often overlooked in the entertainment world.

The initiative was revealed by Rodrigo’s guitarist, Daisy Spencer, during an episode of The Stage Left Podcast. Spencer described the therapy access as “the coolest thing ever” and credited both Olivia Rodrigo and tour manager Marty Hom for ensuring that mental health support was available—even during breaks.

The demands of global touring often take a toll on artists and crew alike, with recent studies showing that musicians are three times more likely to experience depression compared to the general population. Rodrigo’s offering of accessible mental health care addresses this growing concern head-on.

Rodrigo’s move aligns with broader mental health advocacy in the industry, including services like the Music Industry Therapy Collective. Her action goes beyond statements and sets an example for fellow artists, potentially signaling a shift toward more humane tour environments.

Coming off a high-energy Glastonbury Festival performance—where she surprised fans with a duet alongside The Cure’s Robert Smith—Rodrigo’s off-stage decision is earning just as much admiration. With her sophomore album Guts continuing to generate buzz, this mental health initiative adds to Rodrigo’s growing reputation as both a cultural and compassionate force in pop music.

  • Lena Dunham on Girls Shoshanna Spinoff

Lena Dunham on Girls Shoshanna Spinoff

With Girls experiencing a resurgence in recent years, fans of Zosia Mamet‘s character Shoshanna Shapiro have been hopeful that she would get her own spinoff.

And now Girls creator Lena Dunham is addressing that possibility.

“I love Shoshanna. I am on record as saying she is my favorite girl,” Dunham said on the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast, adding that Shoshanna is the character that is most likely “going places” out of the four main girls.

In addition to loving the character of Shoshanna, Dunham said that it was “such a joy to watch Zosia be her.”

“So if there was, like, the right context for us to do it, I’d be fucking thrilled,” Dunham said. “And also to do anything with her.”

Dunham explained that she and Mamet have jokingly “kicked around” ideas of where Shoshanna would be today. “She’d be so brilliant at revisiting it, and I just miss it and I miss her,” Dunham said, stating that she would be “in” to do a spinoff about Shoshanna.

Mamet has also expressed interest in revisiting the character in a spinoff. “I’m trying to get Lena to write a Shosh spinoff,” Mamet said when she appeared on the same podcast in January. “I’ve been, like, slowly working on her. We’ll see. She seems receptive.”

Meanwhile, the idea of doing a Girls follow-up has long been of interest to Dunham. In a January 2022 cover story, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Dunham had engaged in informal talks with HBO about a possible Girls reboot, in which the characters were older and wiser.

Though, she admitted it wasn’t the right time.

“We all recognize it’s not time yet,” she said. “I want it to be at a moment when the characters’ lives have really changed.”

And HBO boss Casey Bloys added, “As proud of the show as we are, there aren’t any plans to bring Girls back. It’s great to know new viewers will continue to discover the [original] series.”

The penultimate episode of Girls featured the surprise that Shoshanna was engaged to a man neither Hannah (Dunham) or viewers had heard of.

“I remember when that idea came up, it was like, ‘How could she?’ Shoshanna’s been very light this season, and it hasn’t been an accident,” Dunham told THR at the time. “We love Zosia, and we want her acting all of the time. But it has felt like she was going to be the character who made the breakaway first, and we needed to explain what had happened to her during that time.”

Dunham makes her return to TV with Netflix’s Too Much, which she created and based loosely on her real-life romance with husband Luis Felber, streaming Thursday.

“Most of it, like, down to the one 10 percent left,” he revealed.

Keeping most of the details to himself, Kevin shared that a lot of the loss came from investing in “a bunch of property,” noting that it “wasn’t the right partnership” for him, which caused him major financial trouble.

  • We have to chase them like beggars: Mehreen Jabbar

We have to chase them like beggars: Mehreen Jabbar

For those of you harbouring the impression that a career in the Pakistani television industry equates to a thriving bank account, director and producer Mehreen Jabar is here to burst that bubble.

“Our drama industry has progressed a lot, and there has been a very high viewership,” conceded Mehreen during a virtual interview with Drama Pakistani. “But behind the scenes, there is a lot of compromise and this industry operates in a very unprofessional way. That is the sad part.”

The New York-based Ek Jhooti Love Story director, who has accrued a rich catalogue of work over her three-decade career, lamented that actors and crew have a constant struggle extracting payments out of Pakistani production houses.

“You know, in the US, they have many problems, but over there, payment schedules are kept. You know you will be paid,” she illustrated. “But in Pakistan, with every channel and production house (and yes, some are better than others), you have to chase them like beggars, asking when you will be paid.”

Mehreen confirmed that this is not an issue limited to just actors. “Everyone faces this, from actors to the spot boy to the director,” maintained the filmmaker. “There is no system. You ask anyone, and you will get thousands of stories about payment issues.”

The director noted that in this shambolic set-up, it is the behind-the-scenes crew members who pay the biggest price. “If you compare the salaries of our light men and crew (because you have to make things in a certain budget), what they are paid, it is very low,” rued Mehreen. “There is no union here, so no one can really fight for their rights – but they are the ones who work the hardest […] I don’t know how this cycle will ever break.”

The director elaborated that owing to this frustrating state of affairs in the Pakistani entertainment industry, taking on a project in her country of origin has proved to be a largely unrewarding experience.

“It’s very frustrating to be shooting in Pakistan sometimes. The smoothest in my experience has been either a short series, because those end in about 35 days, or if a brand is involved,” she mused. “Which is the sad thing, because our drama industry is the biggest industry media wise, since we have no films and our musicians are strugglings. So our TV industry has to find a way to make the behind the scenes environment better!”

Mehreen, however, has limited hopes of a radical industry change. “I’ve been working for 30 years now, and sometimes I feel the issues I faced then still exist today. In fact maybe they are even worse!”
