  • William Is Already Planning to Break 1 Major Royal Tradition Amid Reports He Wants to ‘Overhaul’ Charles’ Monarchy

William Is Already Planning to Break 1 Major Royal Tradition Amid Reports He Wants to ‘Overhaul’ Charles’ Monarchy

Prince William is standing firm on his decision to live in his new home, even when he is King. The heir is reportedly going to move into his forever home with Kate Middleton and their kids later this year.

The Prince and Princess of Wales’ family is moving to Forest Lodge from Adelaide Cottage in Windsor Great Park. A source told Vanity Fair’s royal correspondent Katie Nicholl that the couple is “mapping out a long-term plan to stay in Windsor” and are “future planning” for when they’re King and Queen. The sources also said that it was “unlikely” that the family would live in London and Buckingham Palace. Although they still maintain a residence at Kensington Palace.

    More from StyleCaster

“It’s all in keeping with William not wanting to be a drain on the public purse and living as ordinary a life as he can, even when he is King,” the source continued. The last monarch who resided in Buckingham Palace was Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, since King Charles currently lives in Clarence House. Prince Edward and his wife Sophie have apartments in the Palace when they’re in London.

The report also comes after reports that William will make big changes to the monarchy once he ascends with a big “overhaul” on the monarch where it’s starkly different from Charles’ reign. “He has been thinking about the future for years, and he knows that what his grandmother did and what his father does is an evolution,” Jason Knauf, CEO of Prince William’s Earthshot Prize, told the Times. “There are traditions and things that won’t change, but this thinking about the next [role] is how is this going to be reflective of him?”

“He wants to make sure the whole thing has even more impact and remains relevant,” a friend told the Times.

The move is believed to be inspired by a desire to start fresh, after what Prince William recently described as “brutal” and “the hardest year in my life,” following cancer diagnoses for both Kate Middleton and King Charles.

However, some controversial news stemmed as two families living near the property were reportedly asked to vacate ahead of William and Kate’s move, Fox News Digital reported. “Close neighbors have been surprised to be ordered to leave their properties so that no prying eyes can see the Prince and Princess with their children,” royal expert Ian Pelham Turner told the outlet.

Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams explained to Fox News Digital that it was all likely due to “security reasons,” and that the residents were still allowed to stay on “Crown Estate Land,” just not as close as they were. “They were reportedly in close proximity to the Lodge,” Fitzwilliams said. “The Prince and Princess of Wales need shelter from the enormous pressures of royal life with a media circus watching everything they do.”

  • Every Version and Album Cover

    Every Version and Album Cover

“The Life of a Showgirl” looks like it’s going to have nine lives and then some, when it comes to variant editions with different album cover images and vinyl color schemes. Only Taylor Swift and her team know how many different versions of the album will go up for pre-sale before all the variants get shipped for the official Oct. 3 release, but it looks like it will be a lot, given the pace at which the singer has already been issuing limited editions that immediately sell out.

The latest variant, which went on sale at 4 p.m. ET Monday, is the “Tiny Bubbles in Champagne Collection,” two different LPs with the same cover image but very different vinyl colorings.

With this new image of Swift, on social media, there has been a positive response that has been a common reaction to nearly all the alternate/variant covers so far: “SHOULD’VE BEEN THE ALBUM COVER BUT OK.”

Each of her limited editions has arrived preceded by a countdown clock, and the promise that the variant would be on sale for 48 hours or “while supplies last.” The latter has definitely applied, as most of these have sold out within about an hour.

But for the sake of historical record-keeping, if not necessarily a guide to products you can still purchase, here is Variety‘s regularly updated look at all the previous editions of “The Life of a Showgirl,” in reverse chronological order. Note: all of these prior versions were described as one-time-only pressings and are no longer available, except for the orange-glitter version, which apparently counts as the standard edition.

Aug. 25: The Tiny Bubble in Champagne Collection (two vinyl variants)

With this week’s new variants being as colorfully described as ever, one of the fresh editions comes in “under bright lights pearlescent vinyl,” and the other is offered in “red lipstick & lace transparent vinyl.” As always, the front cover logo has coloring to match what will be thrown onto the turntable.

For now, Swift is back to being pictured alone in his glittery guise, versus the previous collection’s group shot. The closeup of her face may, for Swifties, recall a lyric from not that long ago: “Draw the cat eye sharp enough to kill a man.”

Aug. 21: The Baby That’s Show Business Collection (two vinyl variants)

This edition was available in two different color variants: “lovely bouquet golden vinyl” (above, left) and “lakeside beach blue sparkle vinyl.” The cover of this one was arguably the biggest crowd-pleaser of the different cover images to date, portraying Swift as part of a Vegas-y chorus line. As with other vinyl variants so far, the color of the lettering on the front cover matched the color of the LP inside.

The blue edition sold out first on Swift’s website, in about a half-hour, while it was about an hour before the golden version was marked as no longer available. The latter was apparently restocked at some point, but quickly was unavailable again, according to fan accounts.

Aug. 18: The Shiny Bug Collection (two vinyl variants)

These were the first alternate LP versions to go on sale. The colors for the vinyl were officially dubbed “violet shimmer marbled vinyl” and “wintergreen and onyx marbled vinyl.” Both LP editions shared the same cover photography of Swift in (of course) a showgirl outfit, with variations in the coloring of the title logo. They both sold out in her webstore in about an hour, marking the first time that Swifties became aware of just how short the window of availability could be for these items.

The cover for this edition was perhaps her most controversial to date, with some finding her leaning against a wall to be sexually suggestive, while others protested that it looked either more weary or just stretchy than sensual. In any case, it was the cover image that launched a million memes, mostly of Swift holding various things up, like the leaning tower of Pisa.

Aug. 18: It’s Beautiful, It’s Rapturous and It’s Frightening Editions (three CD variants)

Before Swift got around to her series of alternate vinyl editions, she put three deluxe CD versions up for sale all at once, each of them with a completely different cover photo.

The “It’s Frightening” cover had her straddling a row of chairs and looking ready for action, in a pose some liked to Spider-Man, albeit a lot leggier. “It’s Rapturous” had her doing a dimly-green-lit “peek-a-boo” with her hands covering her face but not her eyes. And the “It’s Beautiful” photo was basically a contest between how much skin and how much bling could compete for dominance in a single pose.

    Aug. 13: The standard edition

The shot of Swift mostly submerged in a bathtub suggests both glamour and the rigor and tiredness in a behind-the-scenes comedown. This was the first cover revealed and, for now, at least, looks to be the only one set to be perpetually on sale. It’s also the only version of the album available in all formats — vinyl, CD, cassette, digital download and streaming.

The LP will arrive in “sweat and vanilla perfume portofino orange vinyl,” and the cassette comes with the same description. The CD version comes with a poster. All of these are available in her webstore and presumably will be indefinitely, as well as in retail stores come Oct. 3.

Swift’s longtime brick-and-mortar partner, Target, is said to have its own unique color for its version of the vinyl, per alleged stickers for the release that leaked and may or may not be legit.

The photography for all of Swift’s album imagery this time around is jointly credited to Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott.

Unlike the alternate versions of Swift’s last album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” which were marked by different bonus tracks as well as different covers, all of the editions of “The Life of a Showgirl” will contain the same 12 songs, with the singer having said on a podcast with Travis Kelce that she is not doing bonus tracks this time around.

Drizzy took to his Instagram on Sunday (Aug. 24), posting a photo of what appeared to be 2Pac’s 1996 Death Row Records chain. The menacing Death Row label logo is blinged out while the back of the golden pendant is inscribed with “All Eyez on YOU 1996.”

The post from Drake also included the All Eyez On Me cover art, which finds Pac proudly rocking the Death Row chain.

Moneybagg Yo, Gashi and Gillie Da Kid lent their stamps of approval, while former Death Row rapper Daz Dillinger chimed in. “I GOT MINES WHATS NEW ABOUT SOMETHING OLD ITS LIGHT DIAMONDS NOT HEAVY. LOL FUC DEATHROW,” he wrote.

A fan added his disbelief: “Bruh. The world has been wondering where Pac’s original Death Row Records chain has been at since 1996. Mind blowing.”

Back in 2023, Drake showed off that he was the owner of a gold, ruby and diamond crown ring previously owned by 2Pac. Sotheby’s confirmed that Drizzy purchased the ring for a jaw-dropping price tag of $1.1 million. The ring was worn by the West Coast icon in his final public appearance at the 1996 MTV Video Music Awards.

Drake is currently touring Europe with PARTYNEXTDOOR, and they’ll hit the stage in Copenhagen on Monday night (Aug. 25) before heading to Milan for a pair of shows later this week.

  • Paul Wesley weighs in on continuing Captain Kirk role after William Shatner

Paul Wesley weighs in on continuing Captain Kirk role after William Shatner

Paul Wesley weighs in on continuing Captain Kirk role after William Shatner

Paul Wesley opens up about taking on the role of Captain Kirk after William Shatner famously portrayed it.

Shatner made his debut appearance as Captain Kirk in the original Star Trek series in 1965, after him several actors played the role in films, TV series or alternate timelines, including Chris Pine too, who played young Kirk in Star Trek reboot films from 2009 – 2016.

Wesley has now taken the mantle of performing the role since 2022.

In an interview with ABC News, the Vampire Diaries actor spoke about playing the iconic character in the series, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.

Wesley recalled Shatner’s kind words about his casting as Kirk for the second season of Star Trek: Strange New World, which premiered in 2023, on X (formerly Twitter).

“Keep my ship and crew safe, Captain! Congratulations!” Shatner posted back in 2022.

“That tweet meant so much to me, it was such a touching moment. Because he didn’t have to do that. And it was very classy,” said the Smallville star.

Wesley also shared how he prepared to play Captain Kirk in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, which is a prequel to Star Trek: The Original Series.

“I watched every single episode of The Original Series. Twice. The show is so iconic,” said Wesley during the interview. “Obviously, it was such a huge part of American history, pop TV history, and the role of James T. Kirk is arguably one of the most famous roles on television.”

The 43-year-old artist also shared details on how tried to bring something new to Kirk’s personality.

“William Shatner is unbelievably confident in his portrayal of Captain Kirk, it’s so unbelievable his charm and confidence,” said Wesley.

The actor in order to make his character learning to become a Captain he said, “I thought my version of Kirk isn’t captain yet, so should I make him perhaps a little less surefooted. Maybe a little more vulnerable.”

The third season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is currently airing on Paramount+.

Snoop Dogg rants on LGBTQ representation in kids’ films: ‘Scared to go to the movies now’

Snoop Dogg is now questioning whether he can take his grandchildren to the movies after viewing an animated Pixar film, which features to openly gay characters.

The rapper took his grandkids to “Lightyear,” a 2022 “Toy Story” spinoff.

“Oh s‑‑‑, I didn’t come in for this (s–t),” Snoop Dogg said in a recent episode of the “It’s Giving” podcast, per The Hill. “I just came to watch the goddamn movie,’” the rap legend recalled thinking. “It f‑‑‑ed me up. I’m, like, scared to go to the movies now. Y’all throwing me in the middle of s‑‑‑ that I don’t have an answer for.

“These are kids. We have to show that at this age? They’re going to ask questions. I don’t have the answer.”

“Lightyear” features Alisha Hawthorne, Buzz Lightyear’s friend and commanding officer. In the film, Hawthorne raises a child with her wife, with whom she shares a kiss.

  • Taylor Swift Drops Third ‘Showgirl’ Vinyl: ‘Tiny Bubbles in Champagne’

Taylor Swift Drops Third ‘Showgirl’ Vinyl: ‘Tiny Bubbles in Champagne’

Raise a glass, Swifties. Another version of Taylor Swift‘s The Life of a Showgirl has bubbled up to the surface.

At 4 p.m. ET on Monday (Aug. 25), the pop superstar unveiled yet another limited-quantity vinyl variant of her upcoming 12th album, The Life of a Showgirl, this time called the “Tiny Bubbles in Champagne” edition. Featuring an exclusive alternate album cover, the new iteration’s front shows Swift surrounded by red feathers while modeling a bejeweled star headpiece.

The “Tiny Bubbles in Champagne” edition marks Swift’s third total vinyl variant for the Oct. 3-slated project, not counting the fact that each one has been available in two different colored discs (the latest comes in “Under Bright Lights Pearlescent” and “Red Lipstick & Lace”). Just like with Swift’s past two vinyl drops, the new one became available for pre-order on her website after time ran out on a cryptic online countdown that went live hours prior.

Also similar to last week’s now-unavailable Showgirl variants — the “Shiny Bug Edition” and the “Baby, That’s Show Business Edition” — these latest discs come with exclusive photos and poetry, and they are only available for 48 hours while supplies last.

Monday’s unveiling marks just the latest exciting development in Swift’s Showgirl rollout, which officially kicked into gear on Aug. 12, when she announced the project’s existence in a teaser clip for her guest appearance on Travis and Jason Kelce’s New Heights podcast. When the full episode dropped a day later, the 14-time Grammy winner shared the album’s main cover, tracklist, release date and sole feature (Sabrina Carpenter, who appears on the title track).

Swift also emphasized at the time that Max Martin, Shellback and herself are the only producers who were involved in making the 12 tracks on Showgirl — which she described on New Heights as being “bangers.” “[The album is] a lot more upbeat, and it’s a lot more fun pop excitement,” she added on the show. “My main goals were melodies that were so infectious, you’re almost angry at it.”

The Life of a Showgirl will mark Swift’s first full-length since 2024’s The Tortured Poets Department, which spent 17 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. The album, along with the “Tiny Bubbles in Champagne” edition, are available to purchase on the musician’s online store.

Sydney Sweeney Faces Back-to-Back Failure Amid Jeans Ad Controversy

Sydney Sweeney is facing a new setback, as her latest film, Eden, struggles at the box office. This follows backlash from her recent American Eagle jeans campaign. With two consecutive film releases failing to perform, the actress is now facing increased scrutiny.

Sydney Sweeney faces another blow at the box office

Sydney Sweeney has faced a string of setbacks, with two consecutive films, Eden and Americana, underperforming in theaters. This comes in the wake of her controversial American Eagle advertising campaign.

The most recent release, Ron Howard’s $50 million survival drama Eden, opened across 664 theaters. However, it managed to collect only $1 million in its debut weekend, as reported by Deadline. Despite a high-profile cast and Sweeney’s striking transformation to portray German settler Margret Wittmer, the film has struggled to find an audience. Despite its ensemble cast, including Ana de Armas and Jude Law, the film currently holds a 55% score on Rotten Tomatoes.

The disappointing debut follows Americana, which premiered in 2023 and grossed just $500,000 against a $9 million production budget. These consecutive box office flops have drawn added attention to the controversy surrounding her American Eagle campaign. The denim ad went viral after featuring the phrase “Sydney Sweeney has great jeans,” a play on “good genes.”

In the campaign, she appears leaning against a vintage car, saying, “Genes are passed down from parents to offspring, often determining traits like hair color, personality, and even eye color…my genes are blue.” The ad sparked widespread backlash, with many accusing the brand of racial insensitivity and Nazi propaganda.

Despite these setbacks, Sweeney remains focused on the series of new projects. The actor has bulked up physically for Christy, a biographical drama in which she portrays former super welterweight champion Christy Martin. She is also set to star alongside Amanda Seyfried in the psychological thriller The Housemaid and will return for the third season of HBO’s Euphoria.

  • Lil Nas X facing four felony charges linked to naked arrest

Lil Nas X facing four felony charges linked to naked arrest

Lil Nas X has been charged with four felony counts related to the scantily clad — and ultimately entirely unclad — early-morning episode that culminated in his arrest Thursday morning.

The singer, whose real name is Montero Lamar Hill, is facing three counts of battery with injury on a police officer and one count of resisting an executive officer, the Associated Press reported Monday. The “Montero (Call Me by Your Name)” singer spent the weekend in a Van Nuys jail after being taken first to a local hospital Thursday morning because of what authorities said was a suspected overdose.

He waived his arraignment, pleading not guilty on all counts, according to TMZ. Bail has been set at $75,000, with the singer required to stay away from illegal narcotics and enroll in an outpatient treatment program if he is able to post bail.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office did not respond immediately Monday to The Times’ request for comment.

Also, as prosecutors were taking care of their business, it looks like whoever called the cops on Lil Nas X last week wasn’t exaggerating when they reported the Grammy winner as a “nude man walking in the street” in Studio City.

Initial video posted last week by TMZ showed the performer wearing only tighty-whities and white cowboy boots, strolling and posing on an L.A. street just before sunrise — and just before his arrest on suspicion of charging at a police officer. But it turns out that’s not the exact condition he was in when law enforcement took him in.

In new video TMZ posted over the weekend, the “Old Town Road” singer can be seen walking down the middle of a street fully naked, having shed the boots and underpants that had barely covered his modesty. (That he disrobed explains how a concerned citizen-slash-amateur videographer was able to snatch his boots up from off the street and list them for sale on EBay, seeking $10,000 — or best offer.)

In the new footage, Lil Nas X recites some Nicki Minaj lyrics from the Kanye West tune “Monster” as he struts runway-style toward the person shooting the video, who appears to be in the driver’s seat of a car.

“And if I’m fake, I ain’t notice ‘cause my money ain’t / So let me get this straight, wait, I’m the rookie? / But my features and my shows 10 times your pay? / 50K for a verse, no album out,” Lil Nas X says in the video.

An LAPD spokesperson told The Times last week that the 26-year-old, who was arrested around 6 a.m. Thursday, initially was taken to a hospital for a possible overdose. Lil Nas X was booked a little over five hours later and ultimately spent the weekend in a Van Nuys jail pending a court date Monday to set bail.

Both the LAPD and Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the scene on Thursday. LAFD did not give The Times additional information about the singer’s condition.

The performer was arrested on suspicion of battery on a police officer after he allegedly charged at officers who responded to the call. Although TMZ reported that he was being held on a misdemeanor, online arrest records list him as being held on a felony count.

Representatives for Lil Nas X did not respond immediately to The Times’ request for comment Monday.

His arrest came soon after he apparently wiped his Instagram grid of old photos and posted a couple dozen new ones, including a selfie posted last week of himself wearing a fur coat, bright red lipstick and both a cowboy hat and crown. “OH NO sHES GONE MAD! CRAZY I TELL U!,” he captioned the post.

In another photo, Lil Nas X posed in front of a backlit mirror in a gold gown, white cowboy boots and a tiara.

“And just like that she’s back,” he wrote in that caption. “We’ve all waited so long. When dreamworld needed her the most.”

Times staff writers Alexandra Del Rosario, Christopher Buchanan and Richard Winton contributed to this report.
